Advice... again

Ok, after some advice here guys

Dealer had the car for short of a week to replace the rear screen, and fix the squeaky belts when cold. Car came back with a quarter of the tank gone, uncleaned, and still squeaking when cold.

Fuel situation - it had to be driven to polygon through london. 20 miles, 1/4 of the tank gone. I explained that as this was a warranty job, surely common sense would dictate they top it up on return. They apologised and offered to top it up if i next went past.

As to it being cleaned, the chap said he was sure it had been in to be clean, and perhaps the drive to polygon caused it. I said i would believe this were it not for there still being mud in the passenger footwell from walking the dog the weekend previously. He had no answer to that

Over the weekend, a new fault seems to have developed, with a strange kind of hissing noise coming from the engine, but with the some creaking also. Popped the hood and nothing visible leaking but noise is still quite loud. Its being collected tomorrow to get the original squeak looked at, so will add this to the list.

I guess the advice is - do I write up to LR direct, but then what could they actually offer that will make up for this, as really this whole situation has left me looking at alternative marques, but this comes with the pain of loss of value on trade in (not something I would ever expect LR to be able to fix)

My October 08 service is free, and the warranty renewal has been negotiated to be priced at trade rather than retail, however I have this very sour taste in my mouth. Too many (albeit minor) things have gone wrong, and the car has spent more time with the dealer in the 5 months of ownership than the 911 ever had in 14 months

Would any of you switch based on this, or would your advice actually be to suck it up, because its not cost me anything yet (you can tell me this, if you think im being just a big moaning girl!!!) and i still love driving it but i fear it is making me harbour dark thoughts of an rs4, or m5 or m6

So, what would you do?

p.s. list of things since ownership: Battery and alternator (within 3 hours of ownership car taken back to LR on back of recovery lorry); rear screen heating element broken; rear discs squeaking and replaced; 1 rear dvd screen kept cutting out and had dead pixel, so replaced; dried out or worn suspension part that gave rise to a very loud creak (i cant actually remember the fault) and replaced; engine squeaks when cold been in once for fix but failed to do anything; now this new random hissing/creaking from the engine

If it were me I would persevere. Go in and see your existing Service Manager by appointment and let him have one last attempt at fixiing it. If he doesn't, take it to another dealer, even if it means a longer journey. Explain your past experience and ask them if they are confident of being able to fix it - and ask for a loan car well in advance.

I very nearly rejected my RRS after a few weeks of back and forth to the dealers, but the service manager requested a last attempt to put things right. His willingness to persevere convinced me to go with this - and now I am very pleased I did. Well done Marshalls of Peterborough.

Incidently my 911 did more miles travelling back and forth to the dealers than it did giving me pleasure. It is just the luck of the draw. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

It's definitely worth persevering mate, although I can understand how you feel. It must be very disappointing to pick up a new car and then end up forging a lasting relationship with your service department.

Good luck with it and as usual, keep us all abreast of progress (or lack of) Very Happy

Car being returned this afternoon. Gave them the car on almost zero petrol this time so they couldn't take the Censored . Will be interesting to see if its cleaned!

As for the fault - they said it was a tensioner that had worked its self loose and damaged the belt. All replaced FOC
