Bluetooth pairing code (2121) does not work

On Friday I picked up my first Range Rover - a 2005 Sport HSE - and don't know why I didn't get one sooner Very Happy

However, here comes the usual newbie bluetooth question...

I'm trying to pair the car with my HP Ipaq PDA. The phone finds the car and requests the encryption key. I enter 2121 and it then comes back with a "incorrect key" message.

Is this a case of "just don't bother" or has anyone got an idea of why this does't work - from all I have read I haven't seen a way to change the car's key so that can't be it.

Thanks!

'tang.

Hi 'tang,

Mine worked with my old HP Ipaq PDA fine - the 2121 code should work

Cheers Kaine,

I think it might be cause it's a 6915 mobile messenger - the PDA that isn't sure if it's a camera, satnav, computer or phone. No doubt HP screwed something else up when building it.

I'll pop the battery and try a hard reset to see if that helps.

Try 0000 and see if you get any further.

One of my un-resolved problems is that I can get pretty much any phone to work with 0000 but not 2121.

Well, i just braved the rain to go try 0000 and you're spot on - it works perfectly.

Thanks for the info.

Did you manage to download your contacts to the vehicle system and dial numbers from the keypad on the radio? To download your contacts you need to be able to 'push' them via OBEX (object exchange).

I've got the after-sale PTI so I only tested using the car as a headset. From what I've read in other posts I'm not even going to try pushing the contact as I'll only end up depressed when it doesn't work... Crying or Very sad

Yeah, the dealer PTI kit is a bit disappointing... didn't know about the 0000 code though, thanks for that! Thumbs Up I've shadowed this post into the Tips section with more meaningful title for future reference.
