2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Rimini Red
New member - tdv8

New member although I've been lurking for a few weeks now, mostly to work out who to go with for a remap..

Anyway here is the beast, the best all round vehicle you can buy imo. This replaces my Discovery 2 and Maserati Quattroporte to fill the role of Dog wagon and Motorway cruiser.

Only mod so far is the gradual tint from front to rear, not a big fan of the factory cutoff look.

Welcome to the TDv8 club and the forums Chris, it's a bit different to a Disco2............................... but how does it compare to a Maser? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Thanks Tim, seems pretty friendly here.

Well it fills the role of the Discovery in that we can get two dogs in the back but you're right, thats about the only thing thats similar.

The Maserati was a lot more fidgity on the roads around here, it was a fair bit quicker when really pushing on, but for the average day when you don't want to be pushing 7500rpm all the time then the effortless 2000rpm surge from the TDV8 is a very welcome alternative.

Its more comfortable, better equiped, bluetooth phone etc, better Stereo with the Logic 7 although I've already had to have a new sub under warranty. So far seems to be just as well built, although it has just developed a rattle from what sounds like the front suspension.

I have my Cerb for weekend kicks.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I would love a Cerb, had a 450SEAC a long time ago before my Land Rover owning started. I make do with a lowly Defender 90 Tdi300 for my relaxation these days (the 450 was hardly a relaxing drive!) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Welcome Chris,

I would strongly suggest your rattle on the front suspension is the well known problem of the Anti Roll bar Bushes.

Assuming this is occurring mainly on straight bumpy A and B type roads Question

If so, I would advise your dealer of this and get it fixed under warranty. There is I beleive a recent bulletin to tell the dealers how to diagnose it Rolling Eyes

Don't let your dealer fob you off with the "Dynamic knock theory" as this is an entirely different noise which you will hear when turning corners or speedily negotiating roundabouts. Caused by the hydraulic ram putting pressure on your anti roll bars in order to keep the car flat. No fix for the noise but at least you know its working. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

That is exactly what is happening... I initially thought arb or wishbone bushes, quite alarming at so few miles.

It was a great car, I suggest you don't buy from new though - The wallet is still in shock.

4 up on the Nurburgring is where it felt most at home. Laughing

Hi ChrisH,

is your TDV8 a 08 or 08.5 MY.
Do you have already a TDV8 badge on the back or a HSE.

Its an 08, but it has a tdv8 badge not the HSE badge.

The tints aren't so obvious in that pic, they are something like 30% >15% >10% front to rear.
