Not sure if i'm late with this but....... yesterday i got to see an internal memo from LR to all Dealer Principles stating that LR will not sanction any claim made on a chipped vehicle or hold any responsibility for componant failure(engine, gearbox, drive chain, etc............ Even vehicles chipped then returned to standard would not be covered

What probably annoyed LR more is that if the dealerships do it in house then by implication it is approved by Land Rover, when in fact Land Rover do not approve any engine modifications whatsoever 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

From what I found out today it was more to do with the fact that Stratstone had Autologic units in the workshops which has p*ssed LR off so much!

yes, it was stratstone, the reason given was 'due to incresed number of major componant failure' which (LR) attribute to chipping MY10 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt Silver, 20" Diamond Turned Alloys, Factory Privacy Glass, Premium Leather, Contrast Stiching, Side Steps, Etc

So what were the "increased number of major componants" that LR attributed to chipping?

The component that takes the most "stress" from chipping is the Turbo. On a chipped car the turbo is working overtime and spinning at mind boggling rpm. I could quite understand how on a chipped car the Turbo may decide to ingest itself at any moment.

personally I'd also take LR's stance on this - I wouldn't be happy if after designing, installing configuring and commissioning a system I get called back to repair a fault FOC to find someone else has been in the system/rack and altered something - a lot of the time this is very hard to prove. |
