Do I need a new Battery on 2013 sport

Hi all, I have a rrs sport 3.0 tdv6 and not used it much last couple of weeks apart from 3 miles to and from local supermarket. A Webasto heater is also fitted coming on twice daily for 20 mins at a time which normally comes on just before going to and from work but I forgot to switch timers off because I’ve been off work for a couple of weeks. Today went to start car and ignition lights etc but not enough to start. Borrowed a booster pack and fired up straight away. 3 miles to supermarket and standing for half an hour fired up no problem.
Do I need a new battery or is it just because it hasn’t been run far enough to charge the battery that has been drained because of the Webasto. Many thanks.

I suppose it depends on how old the battery is,,, but first job would be to get it on a charger a couple of times a week as a 3 mile run ain't going to charge the battery 2010 RRS, TDV8

It's difficult to say without testing the battery. These vehicles are known to be heavy on the batteries. The cold weather just further compounds the strain on the battery, especially if you don't use the car for a while.

If I were in your shoes, I'd buy a trickle charger (Ctek, Noco etc.) and when you aren't intending on using the car for a while, just pop it on to keep it topped up and see how it goes. Kev

I can highly recommend getting a decent charger and one of the tow electrics adaptors from the site shop, I probably run my FBH more than I do the car, so an easy convenient way to charge my battery is a god send, should also extend the life of you battery. MY12 RRS HSE

As shepp says. I use one of these and a CTEK mxs5, bearing in mind the low usage at the moment, short trips and cold weather (everything on hot!) I give it a trickle once a month or so. Even if your battery needs replacing, you can use the CTEK for other vehicles (ride on mower up to DB 1390).

Hi,
ISTR that the FBH will not fire up if the battery is low (timed climate or on its) there is a set of parameters that are checked before it starts and Voltage is one of them.

as said 3 miles each way no chance of adding charge,
I went food shopping on Friday which is 8 miles each way, I went the Long Way Round to give the car a run and 36 miles done (met no one and only shopped in Lidl)

Your temp gauge and some heat coming into the car after a mile or 2 but engine oil ect takes more like 20 min and 10+ miles to get up to temp Shocked
