But how would you get a DVD through that hole? It does look smaller than the size of a disc... L319 D4 HSE

Yes, that is where the changer is (except that here in the US we are talking about passenger's side of course), through the hatch there is just enough room to slide open the protective cover, push the lit eject button and extract its 6-disc cartridge. I did not think the hatch would be there in cars without factory RSE, however. At least the car of Antics22 did not have it when we met the other day.

Basically, you can get "video" displayed in the front using the Nav-TV "TV" hack on any RRS (or LR3)... but you won't get full RSES controls unless your RRS has the full RSES from the factory.

As I said, feel free to price the parts to attempt a retrofit... Cool

Does it interfere with the seat folding at all? It looks like the player is secured to the boot/trunk floor so what happens when you want to use the whole luggage space? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It's not on the floor of the trunk, it is behind the right side panel of the trunk (more or less behind the fuel filler door). As such, it is easy to access and does not interfere with anything, unless your trunk is full of luggage and stuff...

Tim, if you are talking about the link Neil posted to "Prestige Audio"... that's a 3rd party non-factory install. It is not the RSE package.

Oh, I thought you were referring to the location of the factory system. That aftermarket player from the Prestige installation would definitely interfere with the loadspace floor and rear seats folded.

Edit: On second thought, maybe not. There may be enough clearance to fold the seat down.

It all depends on the parts used and the installer... there is enough room to do aftermaret installs without much impact on usability.

I agree it looks as though the seats will still fold flat even with the dvd player in that location. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

I'm sure that they have done their homework and it has all been tested out! I wouldn't want that set-up as I often carry wet gear in the boot/ trunk after a nice day of sailing or windsurfing and that system would have to have the same treatment as the engine ecu in the TD5 Defender....... sealing it in a tupperware container to make it waterproof. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
