THE Best 22" Wheels

I ran over a HUGE bolt over the weekend and now need to replace all four tires because the tread on the other three are below the spec and if I only replaced one, the all-wheel drive will have a fit I guess. The best deal I could get was $1000 for all four tires (includes mounting and balance) from America's Tire Co.

So I was thinking of just getting new wheels and tires. But with all the selection out there, I'm not sure what to get. I definitely want to get 22"s. I'm also leaning towards the Stomer. But I wanted to see the others out there.

So, can you guys post pics of the best wheels you've seen/have?

Thanks!! Embarassed Allen

Oh and can you also specify where you purchased them, tires, dimensions, and cost? Thanks! Allen

sorry to go off thread Allen, but is that true about replacing one tyre? That it'll make the all-wheel drive have a fit?

It depends on the tread life of the other tires. If the tread is below a certain percentage, the height difference will cause issues. I heard that from the tire store and my dealership. Big Cry Allen

arse.

Noticed a chip in one of the tires at the garage when I was viewing the car, they said they would replace the one tyre before I picked it up. Censored .

Different tread patterns maybe, but different tread depths? Surely not... Confused That would imply that if your four tyres wore at different rates (almost definitely the case) then the drive train would always "have a fit".

You should be looking to replace like for like on each axle indeed, but there shouldn't ever be a need to replace all four tyres at once for the reasons stated above. Sounds to me like you simply need to replace the tyres because they might be below the legal limit (whatever that might be in the US).

I would check with LR before diving in and replacing all 4 tyres at once - I don't think it is necessary with the LR 4WD system to replace all 4 just the 2 on the same axle. There are some cars on the market that it essential to replace all 4 tyres at the same time - notably Volvo XC70 and XC90 suffer severe drive train wear if you don't replace all four tyres at the same time. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Crap. Looks like some haggling with the sales guy to replace the other front then! Think the previous owner must have been a little blind, as the alloys are Censored . On the bright side, justifies a decent set of stormers (undecided over 20 or 22 though).

Allen, sorry about that hijack! The best wheels I've seen are either the overfinch tigers, at 22, or the obvious stormers. Its completely personal opinion though. A good way to gauge your opinion is to know whether you turn the stereo up full whack, wind the window down, hang your arm out and drive ridiculously slowly. If you dont, stick with the stormers.

(i know that was a sweeping generalisation, but you get where im going)

Dude, those rims are whack... etc Whistle

Allen, I didn't answer your question either: my personal opinion is also the same as Trixman's... I love the Tigers in 22 and I'm not normally one for massive wheels and chrome etc.

I spoke to a tire store, as well as my LR dealer and they both recommended the same. Big Cry

So since I'll have to shell out $800-$1000 for brand new tires, I may as well pay a few more and get new wheels as well.

I think I'm going to get the Stormers. I have a contact that will sell them for $1300 shipped. And I'll probably get the tires from www.tirerack.com for about $1200 for BF Goodrich KWDs. With mounting and balancing, I'm looking at around $2700 total. Not bad huh? Allen
