Sat nav destination input not working

I've reset my sat nav and now am unable to enter destinations using the post code search - I'm only able to input numerics and not letters, what has gone wrong!?

Thanks,

J8ke

There was a button on the sat nav saying reset and as I've only just got the car I thought it would be a good chance to reset the sat nav....wish I had left it alone now! In for a service tomorrow so I'll let them take a look at it!

Hmm, don't remember ever seeing anything like that reported (or in my own). Like MAW says, get in front of the dealer. Let us know what it was all about! Thumbs Up

Check what region is loaded. For example, french have numeric postcodes, and when in 'FR' setting on the sat nav, you can only put in numerics

Ok that makes sense - How do I change the region setting then?

Switch on ingition,
Press the agree button on the screen
Do not use the touch screen , press the right hand "hard" button on the screen base
the screen will change to show 4x4 info, routing and on the right "settings"
Press the settings soft key onscreen
then select language and scroll up to English and select it

Under enter destination - the map will highlight where it thinks you are (in green i think) touch on UK, green will shift then destination format for that region should be corrected - going from memory but fairly intuitive as I recall.

Ah yes, that rings a bell... and once selected the initial country becomes the default until you reset. I remember thinking when I first used it that it would be a right kerfuffle having to choose UK as my destination country every time I wanted to enter a destination.

Strange though that the factory default setting would NOT support the UK postcode format Confused

Let us know if that fixes it! Thumbs Up

As suggested by various people it was just a matter of selecting GB on the Eurpope map - easy fix now that's what I like - thanks 2 all 4 your help!

Just dropped the motor off for a service and have been quoted the following prices - any idea if they are OK?
- Bluetooth upgrade = £99.88
- Sat Nav upgrade = £186.56

Regarding the Sat Nav upgrade, I've seen discs available on ebay so may go down this route, however for the Bluetooth upgrade is this a main dealer only upgrade?

The costs are on the money. Before you go with the BT upgrade check your phone is compatible. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I've a Nokia N95 which I told the service guy so I presume it's compatible then else he wouldn't of quoted me. Is there no way of upgrading the Bluetooth myself - is it just a DVD that is needed?

No, it's a hardware & software upgrade so dealer only for 99% of people unless you happen to have the relevant kit & caboodle yourself.

The N95 does work with the upgraded PTI as far as I know, but with the limitation that you only get the first entry of a contact in your phonebook sync'd across. You may also have to activate the remote SIM option on the phone. This just seems to be the way it works - it's not just LR, but the BMW system does the same so there's obviously a wider issue.
