Am I missing a piece of car ?

I was parked up at the weekend and was looking at my car when I thought something looked wrong. The front wasnt symmetrical. On the drivers side, below the front fog light and to the right of the parking sensor, there is a plastic mesh area. It does not have a cover behind it - but on the passengers side it does.

Immediately I thought perhaps it had fallen off - however, looking back at photos of the car - it appears to have been like this since I took delivery.

My son is

"Manager - Strategy, Methods & Process
Jaguar & Land Rover Company Quality" It says on his mail footer Sad

He would no doubt tell us that a cover would cost 0.0000000001 pence and such expenditure cannot be justified Confused

BTW, don't moan at ME when your RR/Jag falls to bits!!

The "open" honey comb screen should be the air intake for the intercooler of supercharged engines (and I guess turbocharged ones too, but we don't have diesels here, so...), it is back there somewhere. The one on the opposite end is just a dummy intake to match the look, kind of like the two air vents on each side of the vehicle. On my normally aspirated 4.4 liter gas engine (w/o an intercooler), both intakes on the lower bumper are "fake" and solid, no openings on either side. I guess it makes my front end more aesthetically pleasing... That, and that alone, is the reason why I picked the HSE over the S/C. Wink

Of course, everything being backward here in the US, the open intake on S/C models would be on our passenger side.
