NOISE AT REAR

HAS ANYONE COME ACROSS A DULL THUD FROM THE REAR WHEN TAKING UP DRIVE AFTER BRAKING SUDDENLY? SOUNDS LIKE AVOID BUSH ON THE AXLE?

England 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

You are dead right, it feels like slack in the drivetrain somewhere. After you slow down to a crawling pace then try to accelerate away again you get a "clonk". I had it in my TDV6 and now i have it on my SC. !st Edition RRS S/C, Black on Black.

RRS HSE, Java, Alpaca, Bluetooth, Dynamic Pack, SC Grill, Black Badges, tints all round.

It maybe the damping weights that hang from the rear of your car - these effectively hang "loose" and are liable to a slight bang if there's a swift change in momentum of your car. At least that's what it could be...

I had this on my TDV6. Diagnosed it by rocking the car from outside. Only happened on one side.

Quick visit to Kwikfit and some vigorous pulling (much to my horror)on the exhaust solved it.

Caused by the free hanging balance weight hitting the exhaust. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone
