"upgrade" V6 to V8

maybe it is the wrong section for this topic but I didnīt find a better one to post my question.

I own a RRS V6 and I am actually very happy with it. Actually ! I always thought that a V6
is enough, but I found out that I really did a mistake NOT to buy a V8 at the start.
Now I got an offer from my dealer to exchange my V6 (8000km driven, 6month old, totally okay)
with a V8 (6500km driven, 5 month, driven by the boss of the dealer, better sound system, black windows at the back) with and upgrade price of 12.000€ (appr. 8300GBP). I am not sure if that is really a good deal
and if itīs really worth the upgrade to a V8. I am a bit torn between having a V8 and paying that price for a "used" car. can someone convince me that a V8 is really worth that money ? Wink

It's a lot of money to spend if you're still quite happy with the V6.... Confused

Hi metroberlin

I had the exact same feelings re my TDV6, so when my dealer made it as easy for me as possible to "upgrade" to the TDV8 I went with it. Tentatively..
In my opinion it was the right decision. The TDV8 is a sublime engine and is a significant improvement on the TDV6.

You wont be dissapointed if you did decide to swap. Thumbs Up

- Also had mine TurboChipped, this helps also Cool Something else is always something better:

So have you just got used to the chipping so that it has now become the norm OR does it still have that original whow factor you felt when it was first chipped? Was not the jump in performance from a V6 to V8 enough? I think a lot of us would like to know these things.

..isn't it like with everything in life, once the initial buzz is gone and one get's used to it, it's nothing special anymore and it's back to business as usual. Hi metroberlin
Well i have a tdv6 and i love mine as well ,i have had it for twelve months now and yesterday i was in the dealers getting its first service.
They did a bad thing to me haha, they gave me the new v8 Whow what a difference, well i took it back after a couple of hours reluctantly and the same thing happened the dealer asked me if i wanted to upgrade to the v8 for mine,he said he would give me 40k and the difference would be 13k which i could defiantly work on him with the price, now i don't know what to do either ,i would love to hear your thoughts guys on this! Range rover vogue 3.6 tdv8 Gone

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

I never had any doubts myself. Had the TDv6 from the day it was announced and ordered the TDv8 upgrade as soon as I could. Both great cars but quite different "animals". The TDv6 is comfortable, agile and reasonably quick. Certainly never felt slow. But I drove her as if she was a slowish vehicle in a relatively sedate style (ie more "Range Rover" than "Sport").

Once I got the TDv8 though - that all changed. Immediately I wanted to feel that power surge over and over, wanted to test the limits of the handling, the acceleration out of corners, the sweet (really very very sweet) feeling you get when accelerating hard and hitting the magical point of around 75mph where the engine and vehicle all just hit the same perfect note and it feels like warp factor has just been turned on. And then I got so addicted to that - I wanted more, so had the vehicle "chipped". Never felt the need to chip the TDv6, but the TDv8 just demands that you push the limits.

So ask yourself - "are you comfortable in a TDv6 ? Do you enjoy cruising, effortless in a sedate and mature kind of way" If so, stick with the TDv6 and spend the extra on other things. But if you say "No, I want raw power, viceral levels of torque and a mad, bad ass, grunting, grinning, wheel spinning beast of a motor - then order the TDv8 and enjoy Thumbs Up RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
