United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Tonga Green

Drove her home yesterday. Very pleased overall even though there are a couple of little niggles. The passenger mirror is broken. It won't fold even though it tries, even after some WD40. And it doesn't adjust well either. And the tailgate bottom button doesn't work well either. So a couple of things to fix.

Then I am going to fit towing electrics and a towbar for our caravan.

Dunc, the upper tailgate is plastic and get condensation between the two skins, also the upper tailgate press rubber cover can perish andlets water into the tailgate so be prepared for more than just a new press button! It sounds like the mirror may have been hit at some time and the casing needs to be reset, IIRC you will find a very very old thread here that has the instructions for the reset procedure for manually folding it to get it re-synched 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, preceeded by a 2.7SE RRS, a 3.6TDv8 RRS, several FFRR's and 2 Evoques.
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW.... my fun car to enjoy bashing and denting 20 years old and still giving loads of fun

Thanks for that Tim.

I have tried using the search function to find reference to the mirror reset but all they posts seem to relate to the reversing dip and memory seats, which mine doesn't have.

Thanks anyway. I will look through the D3 forum next.

I think the mirror is actually broken. I did a Google search and found a few references to resynching them by pressing the fold button very quickly twice. All that did was lose the fold function completely.

Others said to remove the fuse to the power fold mirrors for a while. That didn't get the passenger mirror working but it did get the drivers mirror to fold again, and the passenger one to twitch.

The owners handbook was no use I am afraid.

I have now finished fitting a genuine tow bar electrics kit. And picked up a second hand barely used detachable swan neck ready to tow the caravan at half term. Long term I will probably fit a fixed towbar, but for now this will do.

Whilst the trim panels were out I noticed that the body is rusting already! Not good.

The car has the Nokia bluetooth accessory module, so at least I can take calls. I am tempted to find the proper PTI kit though and fit that as it is better.

Thanks a lot. Thumbs Up it recently had to go to body shop after an unfortunate incident but pick it up tomorrow. Then it will be away to get machine polished to bring it back to new!
