July 21 and 22 saw the Land Rover's Owners Club hold it's expo at Penrith on the Western outskirts of Sydney NSW
Saturday was setup and play day while Sunday was for static display. About 300 vehicles were arranged by model type. The Australian Forum had it's own row. I met up with Mr and Mrs Zilch. Together with the LRA display RRS in buckingham blue and one TD V8 owned by one of the trade displays we were the sum total of RRS's present. There was one 2003 FFRR that was owned by the hotdog vendor and used to tow his food van.
The Land Rover Australia stand gave away old posters etc. Mrs Z scored a couple of tubes of genuine Land Rover insect repellent. The engine of the new Defender was not visible for some of the day. It's bonnet release cable broke and Land Rover assist took a few hours to arrive to fix it. It was an enjoyable day and great to meet up with the Z's

Hope there is an equally diverse turnout for the celebrations next year in Cooma. Just a white TDV8 with a few extras

If last time (50th.) in Cooma was anything to judge by then I would expect over 1000 display vehicles including many VERY rare and seldom seen examples. As well there will be a lot of diverse activities ranging from extreme off roading to extreme touring ! This is not to mention the extreme camping and drinking !
There may even be a world record attempt !
My advice for anyone getting involved in the weekend is to start training NOW !

We may be calling on owners of later models (such as you ) to ferry some of the drivers of the oldies on a tour of the Snowy Scheme.......but more on this later !

I also have some friends who own one of the accomodation booking businesses up here (and a TDV6) that might be able to help some of the LR owners who like sleeping under the stars. Providing, that the four or five stars are only above the hotel door as they book in  Just a white TDV8 with a few extras
