United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Is a Twin Turbo Planned for the V6 diesel?

I am about to place an order for a new RR Sport V6 HSE. However, I drove the new V8 Diesel the other day and it was awsome! I can't justify the extra cash on the V8 and I wondered - before I order - if anyone knows if LR plan to put a twin turvo in the V6. The Jaguar with the same engine has a twin turbo.

Land Rover removed the 2nd Turbo from the Jag engine to improve the offroad performance characteristics of the engine. At the same time LR also changed to sump and lubrication design, air intake and tune of the engine for the same reason. The LR TDv6 is a developement of the Jag engine, not the other way round. There is rumoured to be a larger capacity TDv6 in developement to help the engine comply with the next lot of emissions regulations revisions in 2009 - but this has been rumoured since before the TDv8 came out 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Does the proposed 3.0 unit have twin turbos or still just the one?

In this week's Autocar there is a bit about the sale of LR and Jaguar, and in an a side box there is a bit about the
new Mondeo getting a different Tdi engine at facelift time in 2009 - " will be getting the 3.0ltr tdi engine being developed for Land Rover and Jaguar, in the 2009 model year" so developement must be well down the road by now.

In this week's Autocar there is also a roadtest of the new Mondeo against the BMW 3 Series and they reckon anybody who buys a 3 series is wasting their money - the new Mondeo wipes the floor with it in terms of refinement and quality............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It dosn't surprise me, before I bought the MG I was looking at a BMW 530i and most of them left me wondering what all the hype was about BMW, there was only one car that I looked at that the fit, finish and comfort impressed me, and it had all the extras like comfort seats etc.

2 turbos you mean, Pelyma?

Tim - yes, they drove the new Mondeo on 5th Gear recently and reached the same conclusion. Whether it's a 3 series beater or not, the car buying public will still see a Ford badge on the bonnet and think twice about it though (rightly or wrongly).

Isn't that effectivley what a vairable vane turbo is? ie a small turbo for getting away with no lag and then changing to a larger one for the power? Isn't this what the TDV8 does too?
