Snowchains in Oz

Does anyone know why the RRS brochure in Australia says that snowchains cannot be fitted to the 18", 19" and 20" wheels??

I asked the dealer when I ordered and I couldn't get an answer why not, but they did tell me that they will be available from LR for the 19" sometime this year.

For those Australian Members who travel down this way skiing, I heard on the grapevine today that the RTA and Kosciusko National Park tried to get following through this year:

1) Two wheel drive cars had to carry chains (no change)
2) All-wheel drives now also had to carry chains
3) 4x4 wheel drives would need to be fitted with snow/mud tires or be carrying chains

An issue with defining the boundaries for the enforcement of these rules was the apparent problem which they will overcome for next years' season. There will be no doubt some ofther fun as well in terms of defining what a snow and mud tire is for the 4X4's, but hey, they have a year to work it out. Just a white TDV8 with a few extras

UPDATE

Played phone tag with Landrover Australia for a few weeks. They confirmed that that there are LR approved snow chains available for the 19" rims. Specifically the 19' x 8".

The only 19" rims that they import on cars into Australia are the 19" x 9" Thud Embarassed Just a white TDV8 with a few extras

Has anyone hired successfully snow chains to fit 19x9 ( which I think is the standard fit for a TDV8 )?

Interested to know what the fit is like, don't want to end up with a damaged car next weekend at the snow.
