Hot and Sunny HAH !

It surprises me that the predominant impression of Australia is hot dry and sunny to the exclusion of everything else. Not all of the country is like that.
I just traveled from the far South Coast of NSW to Newcastle which is a city North of Sydney return in the same day.
On leaving home before dawn it was 10° C and overcast. Through the Bega Valley the temp rose to 15°C.
Then the short windy 1000m climb to Nimmitabel where the temperature was -1°C all in about an hour !
From there through Cooma and into Canberra where the temp rose to 4°C. From Canberra to Sydney the weather deteriorated to near rain and the temperature rose to 15°C. At Newcastle (my destination ) it was 22°C, humid and raining. The return trip started at about 4.00pm and by the time I reached Nimmitabel on the way home it was -3°C with that sparkle to the grass that signals that I will soon have to fit my winter tyres to cope with the snow !
Guess we'll just have to wait for 6 or so months to see the bikinis again.

We are simple people here and have simple naming conventions

Big desert with lots of sand = "Great Sandy Desert"
Big ocean reef that stops boats = "Great Barrier Reef"
Mountains that look blue = "Blue Mountains"
Mountains with snow = "Snowy Mountains"

None of the posh naming rules like you have over there Laughing Laughing Just a white TDV8 with a few extras
