PTI problem

I have 2 Nokia 6230's, both on different software versions and both previously worked fine in the cradle.

Today I noticed that one of my phones when in the cradle shows up on the screen as having "Memory Empty" when I go to view the phonebook and call register. It has worked previously.

I tried switching the car on and off, switching the phone on and off, selecting different phone memory locations (phone and SIM etc), removing the cradle and re-inserting it but it won't make any difference.

When I insert the phone into the cradle it comes up as "Phone Connected" and also if I dial the phone from my other number, my CLI and name is picked up on the screen as an incoming call - which means it MUST be getting my name from the phonebook...so why won't it read the phonebook all of a sudden?

Does anyone know anything I have not thought about? Any GTR bulletins re PTI issues? I will try and check that one out myself. I tried searching but couldn't find anything about it here.

Stumped, looks like another trip to dealer... Evil or Very Mad L319 D4 HSE

I'm having similar problems. In my case the phone will freeze and not be accesable, most of the time it works fine but sitting constantly in a cradle seems to play tricks with my Nokia 6230 such as registration failed, sim card not recognised. These problems do not occur when out of the cradle though! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

What I find really ironic is that when you check the official Landrover document stating which software version the phones should be, the phone that DOESN'T work is the EXACT version it SHOULD be, the one that does work is not!

Figure that one out???? L319 D4 HSE

New Cradle

Well, I swapped out the old cradle for a new one last friday as I was near the dealer, but not for this reason, I also found that I couldn't get the phone out of it easily, sometimes I'd really have to wrestle it out. The new one they have given literally pops the phone out neatly.

My phone still won't display the numbers however on the screen in the car, it just says "Memory Empty".

This is starting to annoy me.

Does anyone know how to update the software version of the phone? L319 D4 HSE

RRUK. You need to take the phone to a Nokia service agent . I think there is one in Leicester . Call up Nokia and they will be able to help you .
I am still waiting to get a cradle to use my Nokia 6230I.

I wonder if it is worth owners selling their cradles to other owners when they upgrade their handsets etc.

There must be a market for a fine working cradle for half the price for example, if it were me I'd be wanting to save the money...just thinking ahead. L319 D4 HSE

Sorted

BY process of elimination I had my nokia replaced as it seems the software may well have been corrupt. The new phones works perfectly as it should.

Happy now. L319 D4 HSE

Nokia 6230i downgrade possible?

I'm now the proud owner of a Java Black RRSport TDV6 HSE with cradle however I've got the Nokia 6230i.

As it seems everyone in this forum knows you can't use this phone at them moment but does anyone know if you can downgrade the phone to work? And if so how?

Simplest solution is to buy the 6230 from ebay but check the software. I don't think it's a software issue on the 6230i. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

thanks for the quick reply!
Don't know whether it is a software issue for the 6230i as it just simply doesn't recognise the phone!
Friend popped over last night who's got the same car and 6230 and that seems to work fine.
guess I'll just have to buy another phone then Sad

Iceman - what I do is leave a nokia 6110(?) in the cradle and have all calls that arn't answered by my main hanset diverted to this phone. I'm on a Vodafone contract called Business Time where all calls between phones on the same account are free so the cost of the divert in zero. You pay about 50.00 for airtime and 15.00 for each phone attached to your contract. The system works well for me and I'm sure other networks do something similar. I forgot to say my main phone is a Blackberry which I need for the functions (email etc) 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
