Servicing costs - 30,000miles service

OK, mine is just back from a visit to the service bay and here is what it cost me................... hope you are sitting down....................

£426-01p.
This was a standard service with the only "extra" being a request to cure a leak onto the rear luggage space cover in wet weather which was done under warranty.
Parts cost (ex vat) - £147-57 which included parts for the rear brakes that were found to be sticking on,
Labour - £210 -00,
Lubs and "environmental protection" £5-00
VAT = £63-45

The parts used were rear brake sensor wire, Plug, oil filter,Magnatec Oil, Filter assembly (air filter??), The dreaded Screen wash,and another filter assembly.................

One ECU upgrade was done but the girl on reception couldn't tell me what it was for! A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tata TDv8 HSE - Stornoway/ebony and straight grain walnut with towpack, Tasmods and an HST grille. Coming soon LEDs in the headlights
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road

Forgot to add that I found a "free" (I'm sure I have paid for it somewhere in the bill!) 1ltr bottle of Magnatec, 6 pr dispoable gloves and 6 sachets containing "Dip stick wipes" ................................ really usefull seeing as the dealer knows my car hasn't used a drop of oil since the last service in May 2006! A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

From what I was told this morning when I queried it, they were binding slightly - I have also had occassional embarrassing moments at traffic lights when the EPB would not release, even with quite a heavy dose of revs and in D. The bits replaced were considered "fair wear and tear" items - the only item on the bill that relates to brakes is a "wire assembly" part SOE000025 at £7.28 and MPN100 Brake Cleaner at £4.75 so I assume the worn bits were replaced under warranty.
This is one drawback with the EPB, although you can park the car and not engage it, it will after a while engage itself - when I go away for 3 months it can be a b Censored r to get the EPB to release the first time I use the car when I come home, pity that it cannot be disabled for long term parking. Often I have to really rev the engine with D or R engaged to get it to release and then the brakes howl for a long time! A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tim,

When you tried to release your EPB, do you know that if you push down on the brake button it will release, rather than touching the go peddle. If you know, sorry for the obvious statement.

That's funny,

Maybe that's a 2006 glitch 'cause in my 2007 the EPB does not auto engage even if left for a long time.
