On my TD6 3.0 I had a unit that re-mapped the ecu via plugging into the OBD port like AMD etc- using this box you could change from "chipped" to standard at the push of a button and the car went like a rocket!

Some people do make them to fit the sport Doc, they just interface into the ECU plug instead. There are lots of these types on the market now but they do not work as well as the Turbochip method. The answer is you get what you pay for You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

My explination was poo ao I've changed it! ENVOY: Do you mean TD6 doc and not TDV6? Correct and changed - thanks! NIGE: You have the wrong end of the stick, this is not a plug in power box it is a fully blow re-map that you can switch on or off and once you have a uploaded the map you can remove the unit from your car. The plug in boxes your referring to remain on the vehicle when in use and you plug them into the common rail or ECU. Last edited by The doc on Wed May 02 2007 3:39pm. Edited 1 time in total |

That to me seems a much better way of doing things, you can switch it off when you want and back on later. I seem to recall they do something like this for the mini |

OK, I spoke in person to the garage who were going to do the chipping on my friend's RR TD6. It seems it's a PS1 box he called it, installed in the ECU box under the bonnet, said it would boost power to 'over 200bhp'. Not sure if I liked the sound of it, any comments? L319 D4 HSE

I think he means a PSi performance box...common rail pressure box from belgium....I had one on a peugeot 206 diesel...good performance gain but quite a bit of smoke.

The Northampton based TC fitter (Alastair) quoted me £499 inc VAT for the chip, I asked him if he did any deals for Cash and any discounts for members of the forum, his reply was pretty "Customer Unfriendly"* - he made a point of saying that I may be a member of this forum but I don't have a RRS and that yes, he did accept cash, and it would be £499 inc VAT.

I've just got back into the tuning market after selling my own chip tuning business a few years ago.

There's no need for attitude when discussing discounts, but i have to say that in my business i get offered cash a lot and my response is the same, the price quoted is the price quoted regarding of the method of payment, but i will always have a haggle, especially if the customer is part of a group that uses us on a regular basis
