Ok, I know that the automatic door lock at a few MPH is a setting that service techs can actiavet deactivate for you at the dealership. Are there any other settings like this that you can have them turn on/off?

You don't need a dealer for that, it is one of the festures you can enable or disable by yourself through the "Settings" menu in the instrument cluster (while parked, press the "i" button on the turn signal stalk repeatedly to access Settings). You can also change or disable headlights off delay, enable or disable lazy entry, reverse dipped mirrors and overspeed alarm, reset the trip computer, and change mph/gal to km/liters. I believe that's about it.

Thanks for that. We take delivery on the RRS in a week or so, so I wasn't sure. It seemed odd that the service guys would have to set that rather than making it available to the owner, but I saw a post saying as much elsewhere in the forums and my salesguy said something like that as well. It's certainly better to be able to do it myself and is something I've done on my car when I first got it.

Yeah is much better that the customer is able to configure the settings to his/her preference.

Bmw, don't give their owners such luxury, instead you have to pay them something like £30 for them to plug in the car, and switch on/off the individual settings. Similar kind of stuff to what we have in the RRS. In the past i have had things set to my preference on delivery so haven't had to fork out for this stuff, but is a little stingey and silly to have to pay for this privilege.

Yeah, it was always a bone of some contention. I always used to wait until service time to get them to do that kind of stuff - they'd often not charge you if you were in havign other work done anyway. Again, I suppose it all came down to the individual dealer.
