L461 space saver spare wheel

Hi there,

My new RRS is coming with just the repair kit, it was a stock car that I should take delivery off this month, this was the only extra missing from my ideal build, salesman tells me it costs a fortune to buy a space saver spare wheel from them as they quote you for the full kit as JLR spare parts, Jack, wheel brace, foam liner for under the boot floor etc, has anyone bought a third party one? If so let me know your thoughts on them please?

TIA

Malc

Assuming you'd be paying for the stuff, what concern is it of theirs what the cost is? They should just give you the price and let you decide.

Perhaps they just can't be bothered? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hi,

If buying off Fleabay, make sure it is an L461 wheel.

L494 (and earlier) use studs & nuts for securing, L461 use bolts into holes in the hub and I believe the wheels are different to accommodate the new type of fixings.

Scrumps, thanks for the info, you don’t happen to have the factory option of space saver spare wheel on your car do you?

Hi,

No mate - on a £106k car I splash out the £800 on a full size jobby every time.

We’re rural so can’t guarantee to replace a dead tyre “next day” so considered a “wise investment”

Scrumps, understood, like you I normally spec it on a factory order which makes sense, but the deal I got on this stock car I may have to live with no spare or a third party option.
