Fuel return line repair v8

Presently got a problem with the fuel return line connector which has shot ,I have ordered a replacement V8 diesel set but don't want to dismantle the entire nearside band and top engine collection to fit this .
I only need to connect and split the last link to the front rh side of the engine which is link between 1 and two injectors. . I have a full set (s/h) on order but it worries me what is the best way to cut and join the the last link . Firstly I am thinking one of these inline quick connector for Air pressure lines using 6mm OD . but none say fuel safe.
Since the internal ID is approx. up to 3mm possibly smaller I intend to find a straight 3mm barbed connector heat it slightly and push the hard plastic hose onto it , then link it with replacement probe into the injector.
Its possible but has anyone done this please.
