Blanking EGR valves - what do I need to know?

2012 RRS V6

Engine management light keeps appearing. Diagnostics were done today and was informed that one of the EGR valves is stuck.

Have been recommended to get them both blanked - just wondering if anyone else has recently done this and what do I need to be aware of before fully agreeing etc?

Main concern would be failing an MOT with this done.

It’s going to mess things up. The EGR’s work with the DPF, so blanking one requires removing the other. Then you need both tuned out in the ECU. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

I did see a post where the guy removed the butterfly flap but left the electronics/ shaft in place to fool the computers and then blanked off the ERGs with stainless plates.

The indie that blanked mine did just that. Inserted the blanks and took out the butterfly leaving the arm. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

The 3.0 TDV6 is not the 2.7 TDV6. Very different EGRs where everything is monitored. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Just put a new EGR in. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
