RANGE ROVER SPORT 2009 TDV8 BLOWN TURBO'S HELP

Hi, my RR sport 3.6 TDV8 gave up the ghost on Saturday. Was driving, accelerated and suddenly lost power, went into restricted performance and smoke coming out of engine. Had it towed to a garage who have said the turbos have definitely gone, but also the engine is not turning so that could be gone also. The price given to replace the turbo's alone is £3000, but that did include removing excess oil from engine and replacing the oil. Im not a mechanic but it seems a lot of money. He did say they would be new turbo's not reconditioned. What's everyone's thoughts?

Bearing in mind it's a body off job, it's a fair price.

Turbos alone from LR will cost over £2k, the same direct from Borg Warner slightly less than £2k.

£3k to replace two turbos is not a lot of money. Well, it is a lot of money but it's not for the job described. Unless that's just the labour charge, in which case it is excessive and they want you to go somewhere else.

The turbos alone will cost you that.

However, if it won't turn over because it's full of oil, then the turbos might be the least of your worries. A hydro-locked engine is likely to be scrap/uneconomic to repair. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
