RR Sport TDV8 Rear suspension creaking

Thanks in advance for assistance . The offside rear suspension has a very prominent and constant squeaking/creaking noise. Air system seems to be working ok with no lights on the dash but this noise needs fairly desperate attention. Any ideas as to where to start will be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Hub bush, likely. Can you get it to squeak by rocking the car on its suspension when it's parked? If so, that's a pretty good indicator.

The bush itself is cheap but obviously there's some work in taking it all apart. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Yes, that’s right. If rocked while parked it squeaks and creaks, same when you’re getting in and out of the car and does it all the time while driving. Thanks for the help, I’ll start there and let you know how I get on. Thanks.

Oh, and can you recommend a brand/supplier for the knuckle bushings please?

First you say hub bush then Knuckles so can you be more specific in which bush and where. Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

Take your pick, item 17 is the knuckle, items 16 & 19 are actually described as bearings in this illustration.

The one I had before with similar symptoms to the OP was numbered 16 on Col's image. It was possible to see damage on the component when the wheel was removed. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thanks to all for your input. I’ll post my findings to aid others in peril in the future.

Thanks ..I shall check for play etc but if its just a creak they will be getting an injection through the end seals of some lubricant. Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

I tried lubricating the offending unit but it made little difference. A replacement solved the issue and peace returned. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Looking at a picture of the bushes they appear to be protected with a rubber boot which retained by spring clips similar to a track rod end, so unless you dislodge the boot I don't think you would be able to lubricate them very well, of course if the boot is already dislodged or split that it probably part of the issue as there has been a ingress of water and dirt.

Col

So, had a look yesterday and haven’t managed to zero in on the squeak yet but did find that my upper control arm is so corroded that it has big holes in it. Looked for a replacement on eBay and the prices vary wildly. The Britpart one seems mid priced and am thinking of going for that. Again, any recommendations would be appreciated? Thanks.
