Touch Screen Flicking and Static on Audio

Afternoon!

Having some issues with the RRS 2010 3.6

The touch screen head unit is not flickering but its seems to be greying out on the audio in random cycle, while this is happening the audio is cutting in and out while cracking and popping.

So it cuts outs and crackles, the the screen will have all the audio inputs greyed out then not greyed out etc. i would say its a permanent fault more than intermittent

Thanks H

Hi there,

I was the lead engineer for the (Alpine) head unit in your vehicle. You have a MOST connection issue. MOST is the term for the fiber optic network that connects all the modules on the infotainment network. The problem will either be a damaged/loose MOST connector or a kinked MOST optical lead. The issue will be with the ECU that's greyed out - Tuner, phone, DAB etc. So check the MOST optical integrity in that specific area....

Hi, I can only speak for the head unit. The head unit is grounded via the vehicle harness as it's mounted in a plastic carrier. What I can say is that the MOST FO cable was not that heat resistant (+85DegC) and the temperatures behind the head unit and HLDF were both very hot and had limited space (ventilation truncking etc). It was there that I had the most issues during development. JLR introduced a white cable protector to prevent damage due to bend radius and temperature issues which seemed to work well. However, as usual, these things age so please double check in that area.....
