Instant 4.2 SC mpg increase !

Something that’s always annoyed me with the RRS is that when I start from cold the mpg is about 14 mpg.

It then takes yonks to rise to anything sensible, even if cruising at say 55mph.

HOWEVER ! If I press the reset button on the stalk it then gives me a much more accurate indication of the mpg and an instant sense of well-being, especially on a long run.

I got between 28 and 14 on the way home today, whereas normally it would read 14.2 or so for the whole journey. Resetting shortly after take off gave me an average of 18 - much more respectable.

As Terry Wogan used to say “Is it just me ?”

That's because it's not taking into account fuel used when stationary or fuel used pulling the massive lump away.

A true average would include these as it effects your wallet.

I agree it is interesting to reset it while on a trip and see how long the average will stay a nice number

I suppose a true indication is brimming it and then doing an average mileage comparison over 2-3 re-fills.

Still, it makes me feel a bit better re-setting after starting off !
