Retofit Fail on RRS MY16 HSE

Hi at all,
My first post here, so please be indulgent.
Please excuse me for my English which is not my original language (translated by Google).

I have a RRS HSE diesel MY16 diesel VIN * 633543 since June 2020.
I have JLR SDD 160-2; VXDIAG VCX NANO.
I'm trying a retrofit: AHB, Lane Departure, TSR

I bought a GPLA-17E768-GC LR058506 interior rear-view mirror on Ebay:
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Land-Range-Rover-a...2749.l2649

I bought a FK72-11654-DC ECU Switch from Ebay
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/ECU-SWITCH-FK72-11...2749.l2649

I installed the mirror, the switch and updated the CCF with:
GROUP_EUCD_CCF_AHB_MENU
PARAM_EUCD_CCF_AHB_MENU
TRUE, 04 @J_AHB_FED AHB Test Menu - Enable in Touch Screen Display
GROUP_CCF_AUTO_HIGH_BEAM
PARAM_CCF_AHB_SYSTEM_STATUS
FITTED,
PARAM_CCF_AHB_SENSITYVITI_MENU
FITTED,
PARAM_CCF_AHB_CALIBRATION
ROW, Rest Of The World
GROUP_CCF_EUCD_LANE_DEPARTURE_WARNING
PARAM_CCF_EUCD_LANE DEPARTURE_WARNING
LANE_WARM_TSR
GROUP_CCF_EUCD_POWER_STEERING_TYPE
PARAM_CCF_EUCD_POWER_STEERING_TYPE
EPS_4. Electric power steering with external angle and torque control

After this installation AHB is available in the menu but does not work,
TSR is available in the menu, it seems to work as it shows speed signs but I think without using the rearview camera. (MAP, GPS and NAVI)
I have a permanent error on LANE DEPARTURE, SDD gives me error C1001-78 On IPMA.

I run with SDD "Configure existing module - Image processing control module A”.

At the end of the procedure after updating several modules, I have a message that I don’t understand:
“Assembly part number: GPLA-14F448-CG Hardware part number: DPLA-14F453-AA
Software bootloader part number: GPLA-14F457-AA.VBF”
This update did not resolve the issue and the error on the LANE DEPARTURE is still present.

I think the mirror does not have the correct Firmware?
Let me ask you for help in solving this problem.
Thanks in advance

HUPSS !!! no response to help me solve this problem?
I thought there were specialists and people on this forum who had already made this retrofit.
Maybe I misspoke.
I am trying to install "AHB, LANE Departure, TSR" on a 2016 RRS HSE.

After reading a lot of post on this topic in several forums:

1 I bought a GPLA-17E768-GC mirror
Is this the right mirror, is it compatible with my car?

2 I bought an FK72-11654-DC switch.
Is this the right switch?

3 I installed the rearview mirror and did the CCF Update.
GROUP_EUCD_CCF_AHB_MENU
PARAM_EUCD_CCF_AHB_MENU
TRUE, 04 @J_AHB_FED AHB Test Menu - Enable in Touch Screen Display
GROUP_CCF_AUTO_HIGH_BEAM
PARAM_CCF_AHB_SYSTEM_STATUS
FITTED,
PARAM_CCF_AHB_SENSITYVITI_MENU
FITTED,
PARAM_CCF_AHB_CALIBRATION
ROW, Rest Of The World
GROUP_CCF_EUCD_LANE_DEPARTURE_WARNING
PARAM_CCF_EUCD_LANE DEPARTURE_WARNING
LANE_WARM_TSR
GROUP_CCF_EUCD_POWER_STEERING_TYPE
PARAM_CCF_EUCD_POWER_STEERING_TYPE
EPS_4. Electric power steering with external angle and torque control

I made a mistake in modifying the CCF?

4 After restarting I found DTC C1001-78 error on IPMA.

I run with SDD "Configure existing module - Image processing control module A". This procedure has updated several modules. However, I have an additional message saying:
“Assembly part number: GPLA-14F448-CG Hardware part number: DPLA-14F453-AA
Software bootloader part number: GPLA-14F457-AA.VBF ”
Have you ever encountered this message?
What does this massage mean?

This update did not fix the problem and I still have the permanent error on LANE DEPARTURE.

Do you have any advice for me to resolve this problem?

I try to activate with SDD the camera calibration in IPMA, but I cannot find how to do it in SDD?

If you need more information I am at your disposal.

Claude

Hi
I carried out this modiforcation and had several issues mainly with the mirror as they changed in 2016 and my car was a 2014 I notice that the dash switch panel is the wrong one compared to mine I also had to flash new firmware for the mirror to work and I used the GAP tool to flash the mirror firmware Patrick from GAP supplied the firmware £25.00

Claude,

I am in the middle of this challenge myself and from the information I have found out so far, I think that you are either using the the wrong mirror or the wrong Tailgate/LDW switch.

If the tailgate switch correctly fits your car (as it will have two connectors at the back), then the rear view mirror is set up for a medium speed CAN. I think 2016 was an RRS 'update' year and later models have a high speed CAN

I hope this helps "Every Day is a School Day"

Thank you for your messages.

For the switch:
There is one, different from mine, with this type of connection (1) in the photo.
I took another switch because I have this type of connection (2) on the photo (it have two connectors at the back).

For the switch, I also ask myself the question:
Is there a connector (1) (3 wires) or (2) (7 wires) on this switch. I have the (1) 3 sons installed.

For the moment I have invested in JLR SDD because it is the reference solution, it is used by all Jaguar / LD dealers. I think he can do the job. I try to learn and understand how it works. I am a retired individual and for me I have a passion for the automobile and particularly for LR.

For the mirror:
I have this reference GPLA-17E678-GC LR058506 given by the seller.
Attached is the photo of this mirror in detail.

For the firmware of the mirror you are right, there is a change in 2016:
I guess for SDD the ECU is called IPMA! (To validate)
SDD has found the mirror, it has already loaded the following updates for IPMA:
Before, in the analysis of SDD, IPMA did not exist.

-FW93-14F454-AB.VBF (Signal Configuration sw_part_type = SIGCFG; Network: CAN high speed main network network = CAN_HS; 11-bit CAN identifiers frame_format = CAN_STANDARD)

-GPLA-14F455-AA.VBF (Executable sw_part_type = EXE; Network: CAN high speed main network network = CAN_HS; 11-bit CAN identifiers frame_format = CAN_STANDARD)

-GPLA-14F455-BC.VBF (sw_part_type = EXE; network = CAN_HS; ecu_address = 0x706; frame_format = CAN_STANDARD)

-GPLA-14F456-AA.VBF (Data or Parameters sw_part_type = DATA; Network: CAN high speed main network network = CAN_HS; // 11-bit CAN identifiers frame_format = CAN_STANDARD)

-GPLA-14F456-BC.VBF (Data or Parameters sw_part_type = DATA; Network: CAN high speed main network network = CAN_HS; main node with ECU description: IPMA - Image Processing Module A ecu_address = 0x706; 11-bit CAN identifiers frame_format = CAN_STANDARD =

-And GPLA-14F457-AA.VBF; I don't know if this update was installed by SDD; It is of type: "secondary bootloader" and it refers to "Assembly part number: GPLA-14F448-GC".

Curiously the VBF files have a Volvo header:
"vbf_version = 2.4; header {
// ************************************************ **********
// *
// * Volvo Car Corporation
// *
// * This file is generated by VBF CONVERT ver. 3.5.2
// *
// * DO NOT EDIT!
// *
// ************************************************ **********
main node with ECU description: IPMA - Image Processing
Module A ecu_address = 0x706 "

The mirror firmware Patrick from GAP supplied is on file? It is .VBF? Do you see is header?

For the time being :
I have a doubt about the firmware of the mirror.
I have a doubt about the wiring of the switch (3 wires or 7 wires)
I have a doubt about SDD's message regarding GPLA-14F1457-AA.VBF.
I am wondering if it is not necessary, after updating SDD, to perform a mirror calibration and how to do it. For those who have succeeded in this job have they done this calibration?

This is the correct switch for the 2014 2015 model, the repalcement swithc needs to look similar to the one you remove namely the buttons on the earlier models are horizontal and the newer style are vertical and smaller If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

The system will work without the need of the physical switch (its just a quick convenience) when I got mine working I didnt have the switch and it all worked, the switch is essentially dumb if its not there then the car doesnt care.

I suspect that this maybe down to a firmware issue on the mirror, the options appear in the dash (they will as htis is just enabled by the CCF and it doesnt matter if the mirror is connected or not they will still appear in the menu's)

The mirror looks like the correct one as it has the camera, but I suspect it needs the correct firmware installing on it, Im sure this is possible however, most of us have not gone down the SDD route as we have the GAP IID tool, which is essentially less dangerous from an end user perspective.

It might be worth speaking with GAP and asking them (you might have to pay for the firmware as you are not a GAP customer) and ask them if they can uspply you with the correct firmware that will need to be update on the mirror itself.

The car wehn it came out of the factory had software that was for all versions installed (in the background) your buuld would originally only had CCF's enabled for the hardware and moduels that were installed. The new Mirror has firmware on it but maybe not the firmware that the cars main software can talk to using the now enabled CCF's they are expecting to communicate with a module that (in your case does have the correct software) hence the errors.

I think the difference in the parts GPLA and DPLA are just location based but the part is still the same GP being mayeb Europe and DPLA being US market (although I cant confirm this)

The mirror you bought do you have the VIN it came from? In the GAP tool you can see this when you scan the ECU's

You might be able to find this in the SDD software as it will be different from your VIN (I think this is where the firmware comes in) My mirror show a different VIN on the ECU than my actual car VIN.

I dont know how to flash the firmware on the mirror once connected to a car using the SDD software, I suspect you need the file iteself unless there is a library of firmware files inside SDD (i suspect their must be).

The switch you bought is the later model switch and I think there were only 2 versions of the connection types but I might be wrong, if the stich you took from you car had the saem connection on the back then it should be the direct swap out but wont do anything for the lane dep until the rest of the car knows what to do with it, but it should still open the tailgate, if it doesnt then as Jhill has suggested it could be that there are 2 versions of the later type that operate on different bus speeds hence yoru stich wont open the boot. The switch doens need any software its hard coded as far as I am aware. It just sends a signal (and the lane dep it just sends the same signal to the car as it would when you use the menu system to turn it off).

Some of us have got this all working on the older models 2014 and a guy in the US has got it working on a later model 2016, but it might be that whilst yoru car is a 2016 registered car its not 2016 it could be a late 2015 or late 2016 it depends on the MY16 or MY15.5 setup as I think around that time they updated the internals as the touchscreen changed icons around this time and then early 2017 has a newer larger touchscreen as standard with the home buttons along th bottom of the screen (presumablly with an all new bus system in the background)

This is technically hacking the car and is trial by error as with everythign there is progress in the background which might mean one solutions works for one but not others.

What doesnt help is that the sellers on ebay dont know what they are really selling or car for that matter. having the VIN of the donor car helps as you can look up the spec and find out if it had lane dep and TSR to know the mirror is deifinietle capable, but from what I have found I think as long at the camera is on the mirror is should be capable but does need the correct FW to enable thos functions at the mirror and in order for the car to commnicate with it. If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

Thank you for all these explanations and for your help.

Indeed the switch with the two connectors is the right one for my car. He opens Tailgate well.

I realized with SDD: the IPMA calibration routine
"Lighting - Automatic high beam camera Calibration"
It launches an IPMA ROUTINE_800C procedure.
At the end of the procedure, I encounter errors and the "Failed" procedure
Right now I'm stuck, giving up.

If a competent person with SDD could help me !!!
Otherwise I would try to conta

Best Regards

Im not overly sure what any of that means, however at a guess you are trying to calibrate the forward facing camer in the mirror?

Im not sure if that is even required as one would make the assumption that the the firmware that needs to be load onto the mirror ECU (well the HCMB ECU) would include this as I cant believe that every car that had this had to be calibrated prior to sale.

I suspect that the firmware would have the calibration setting in it as the view it has will be the same for each vehicle.

Just found this below which same you need to have some other kit in order o perform the calibration (im guessing some sensors that is can see etc... (bit like the 1980's Robocop recalibrating his targeting system) Or similar to the wheel alignement and camber tool lasers.

https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=...e832ec1a20

Might be worth asking an indy garage if they know any more or if there is someone on here near you who has a GAP tool that is not VIN linked could see what is says.

I still think that you just need to be able to work out how to flash the ECU that the mirror uses HCMB module I think it runs the HighBeam assist too. I had to install new firmware onto that unit prior it working. It might be worth speaking with GAP and asking them and bunging them a few dollars for a copy of the firmware theyh issed to us as Im sure it will be in CCF format and Im pretty sure they probably have a copy of SDD to base some of their functions on.

Good luck and keep us posted If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

I believe that if you have a new windscreen this calibration needs to be carried out, try asking a auto windscreen company if they can do this for you.

"I have a doubt about SDD's message regarding GPLA-14F1457-AA.VBF."

I believe this is in relation to the origional mirror fitted check the back of your old mirror its possible that the CCF is relating to this part not the new part number.

Good spot I think the AA on the mirror part means is was just AHBA and not the GC verison of the mirror hence the car doesnt seem to see the new mirror in the SDD ecu list, the camera mirror you bought is the correct one but its not being picked up as being present in the software.

Is there a way to scan for ECU's on the SDD prog? OR is it possible to go and look for the HCMB headlamp module
This is the module that got updated, that said it was possible to see this using the GAP tool but others have said it hasnt appeared in the list.

The Vin at the bottom was the donor car Vin not sure if you know what the vin was for the donor car or if its possible to scan for it?

Does SDD give a search facility for a part number fitted to the car? If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

Hi, did your car have the 3 wires or the 7? I have the switch with the LDW switch on and it seems to have a bigger connector on it (like the one with 7 wires but the car has the small connector with 3 wires, it will fit but doesn't operate the boot, does it need programming for the boot switch to work? 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

Mine is a 2014 and uses the single connection which is the smaller of the 2 connectors, like item 1 in the image (that is my image the top one is the original swtich that came out fo the car, the seocnd one is the one I needed, and the third one is the first one I bought that didnt work as my car only had a single lead/connector in the dash board)

When I connected item 3 it didnt spring any errors but it wouldnt work the boot!

Also the item 1 has the buttons on the switch that are horizontal (same as item 2)
Item 2 has the buttons vertical and they are much smaller buttons

This is the one I bought which is for sale that came with the deployable sides step button (it doesnt matter that button just wouldnt work unless I fitted them)
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333675803918

That item is for the later model cars I think around maybe 2016 ish (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333675805466 this is the original one that came out of my car) see the button is much longer.

The one I fitted just used the Grey connector (the green lead/harness was not in the dash on mine so this must be only the later models

I think you need the same one as item 2 then with the single connector, there is no programming required as the switch is technically dumb and more convenience as you can turn the LDW off in the menus on the dash TFT so this is just a quicker way to turn on and off (i guess it just sends the system the same input signal as it would as if you were changing in the dash.

If the switch that came out had one connector then you need to replace it with on that has the single connector
DPLA 11654 HA is the part number I purchased single connector version

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2016-RANGE-ROVE...SwURhePFMA

The above link is a switch for the 2016 model but (i know it says evoque but its the same swtich on all of them)

I dont know what the green connector is for as mine doesnt have it. Maybe you car is a 2016 car but is a late 2015 spec perhaps?

If you have 2 cables in the dash then the newer twin connector switch should work. If you only have one cable then it the single conenector switch

Hope that helps

I have the newer switch as you suggested and the green plug fits and works correctly, the grey plug has three wires in it and is small than the hole for it on the new switch, it will plug in but the boot doesn't operate from the switch! 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography
