RR SPORT ELECTRIC WINDOWS

RR SPORT L320. The drivers door doesn't lock when requested, all the others do. Is there a recognised go-to such as a solenoid, relay etc before I start dismantling? The door card is off anyway, I'm waiting for a (used) replacement drivers window switch assembly as the original doesn't do anything - fault has been intermittent but is completely dead now - the other windows/switches work.
Thanks

More likely the door latch is dead. Although we just had an LR3 that we diagnosed as a dead door latch that turned out to be a dead door latch which cooked the door latch wires in the boot between the door and A pillar. Talk about a fun repair, it was bad enough getting the window regulator out to access the latch, then chasing down access to those wires to cut out and repair them. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Yeah the door latch itself (which contains a weak motor) is a common problem

Thanks for the replies. Any chance you could describe a brief procedure to get at it?

Definitely stock up on your swear words, you’re going to need a lot of them. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Different way of doing it.

Most people leave the white win motor fitted, and just lower the glass down a bit (if it's working), so you can access the white clips thru the speaker hole.
They also leave the glass in the door, push it manually upto the top seal and put tape around the outside of the door or put a bit of wood in the door (with V) to prop it up. Depends if you are a risk taker. Laughing

I never removed the external handle, but it's probably easier to
