I have put up a proposal on the D3 site to hold a do at or about Wilpeena Pound in May 08. Any RRS site members are welcome to join us and this info will also be posted on FFRR, Fl2 & Def2 sites. It started as a D3 thing but has blown up to include All Land Rover/ Range Rover breeds & types Thumbs Up .

Nothing defo on exact dates as I am going to try to tie in with similar events being held in UK with live sat or whatever feeds between the events. At the moment we are waiting on which long weekend (theirs. UK) in May it will be. ( They have 2 long weekends in May). A sign up with details of events (ranging from easy trips off road to "OMG I'm not doing that Censored in My baby" trips), accommodation options & prices, and defo dates will be along shortly. Thumbs Up

Here is the link to the D3 thread on the same:

Cheers,
David.

All, registration for Cooma is now open. When you register you can also book the awards dinner (recommended as seats will be limited) as well as camping. Polo shirts and other stuff is also available.

An update on Cooma.

Steve

LAND ROVER AUSTRALIA IS NOW THE MAJOR SPONSOR

Land Rover Australia is now the Major Sponsor for the Land Rover 60th
celebrations to be held at Cooma over Easter this year. Apart from
providing financial support, they are also donating several prizes,
including the main one for Best Vehicle, consisting of the use of one of
their vehicles for 7 days plus 5 nights accommodation at Novotel Lake
Crackenback, near Canberra. They will also be putting on a display
consisting of a new Defender, a Freelander 2, a Discovery 3, a Range
Rover Sport, a Range Rover Vogue, two Military Vehicles and a "Special"
vehicle (which is expected to be the Australian premiere of it).

The various categories have still to be finalised, but will include Best
restored and Best un-restored for the older vehicles, Best ex-Military
and Best set-up for Outback Travel.

The Event has also received great support from Cooma residents. The
Mayor, Roger Norton, has been of great help, as has the local Service
and Car Clubs who will be providing a lot of the logistic support during
the Grand Parade, as well as Bar Service at hotel prices during the BBQ
and Awards dinner.

It is hoped that there will be a number of Trade displays at the
Showgrounds on the Saturday and Sunday. It is also expected that there
will be an `unofficial' Swap Meet at the Showground as well as a
display of Working Landies on the Sunday.

At the Polo Flat campgrounds before the Grand Parade gets under way on
the Sunday morning, an Ecumenical Church Service will be held to
celebrate Easter, led by the Reverend Neil Flower of the Land Rover Club
of Sydney.

Arrangements have been made for the professional filming of an official
DVD of the Event by a member of the Land Rover Club of Victoria. This
will be able to be ordered at the Registration Desk at the Multi
Function Centre at the Showgrounds during the whole of the weekend.

Also available will be the official Memorabilia. This is proving very
popular and it is suggested that people who Register should order their
requirements beforehand as there will only be a limited supply over the
Easter weekend.

The four Organising Clubs involved have agreed that any profits made
from the weekend will go to charities, both locally and through the
Clubs themselves.

Registration can be effected through the website www.landrover60.com.au
However, for those people who do not
have access to the Internet, Registration Forms can be obtained from
either the Event Co-ordinator, Graeme Walsh on (03) 9884 4101 or the
Assistant Co-ordinator, Patrick Sutcliffe on (02) 9489 3756. RRS TDV6 MY07 gone.

Update on the Land Rover 60th Celebrations (from the organising committee)

Just to keep everyone up-to-date with what’s happening as we get closer to Easter – only a couple of weeks left now!

As of today, March 4th, we have 443 Registrations, representing 859 people and 464 Land Rovers, with 30 other types of vehicles. This is good, but not as good as 1998 for the 50th. However, there appears to be a lot of people booked into Snowtels Caravan Park who have not registered. They probably expect to register when they get to Cooma, but unfortunately they may be disappointed. Practically all the seats for the Awards Dinner have gone and there will only be a limited supply of memorabilia.

On the subject of memorabilia, we have arranged for someone to be in attendance at the Showground all day on Sunday during the judging to take photos of people’s pride and joys. These will be transferred to mugs, mouse mats and key rings at a very reasonable price and brought to the Awards Night Dinner for collection.

Also, we have arranged for some very smart business shirts and some t-shirts, both with the logo on, to be available for buying at the MFC until stocks run out, when orders will be taken for posting to people. These have only just become available and cannot be ordered on the website.

Also available will be a DVD of the 50th Event in 1998. These have been created in response to a few requests and will also be on sale at the Memorabilia Desk at the MFC. A number of children’s entertainments have been booked for the Showground on the Sunday to add to the day’s enjoyment. There will be a Bouncy Castle, Mini Car rides and candy floss (although there’s nothing to stop adults eating this as well!).

Steve RRS TDV6 MY07 gone.
