Apple Play in a RRS 2010 ?

Hi folks

I’ve currently got the ‘Invery’ Bluetooth connector inside my RRS 2010 which is ok and I can stream my music etc however has anyone managed to get apple play in their RRS 2010

I’m sure it can be done but how ? Is there a similar device ?

Alan

Not really plug & play : I have installed the module sold by Unique Auto Developments. It requires the screen to be removed to insert a pcb. the centre console must be removed, I have installed the module in the upper glove box.

Got my unit from Unique Auto Developments and installed today. A couple of remarks:

The center console didn't need to be removed, I did it according to the manual, but it turned out once I removed the screen, the two plugs on the main unit were accessible easily enough and I didn't have to remove the main unit/CD player at all. Removing the centre console took the longest BTW and again - was completely unnecessary for me. Your mileage may vary, though.

The "install the custom doughterboard inside the screen" is by far the most nerve-wracking, as there is some precision involved and the screen assembly consists of numerous metal shields that are held together with a number of small screws.

I routed the microphone cable behind the A-pillar cover and then to the central overhead console so the provided microphone is invisible and in the stock location.

I don't know about RHD, but the manual states there is enough space behind the lower glovebox to hide away the UAD unit. Not the case with a LHD car. I do not want the unit to freely roam inside either glovebox, so while currently it does, I will need to manufacture a plate to hold it on the "ceiling" of the lower glovebox. Regards etc.,

Wojtek

I recently fitted one of the idcore units to mine, as it takes less than 5 mins to remove the centre console, I removed that and fitted the unit in there plenty of space, there is a actually plastic shelf there I used to attach it to, just used Velcro plus a cable tie just as a precaution to secure it. Just didn't like the amount of space behind the glovebox or lack of it.

Cheers

Lovely idea. Will consider that.

BTW @Col and @Kouze59 - are your Carplay screens stretched vertically just a bit ? Enough for the circular icons to not be, ehm, circular? I've seen it on numerous add-on Carplay devices and here it's visible as well. Didn't find any screen sizing options in IDCore unit setup, but perhaps I wasn't looking good enough? Regards etc.,

As far as I can tell none of the circular icons are stretched at all.. Mostly these installations use the original screen and piggy back off using the new smarts...
My installation etc can be seen in this thread
https://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic59236.html
The only issue we have had is that you need to answer the phone from the steering wheel otherwise nobody can hear you... you can make calls from the screen or using voice command though... a bit strange but you get used to it.
Other than that the touch sccreen is a bit slow but it was never really designed for swiping...

To be fair my phone is Android so only use Android Auto, only really wanted it to use either tom tom go or google maps for the navigation side, as latest factory map here is 2017, just as well they don't build to many new roads. Laughing Haven't noticed any distortion of the icon's although mine is the Bosch screen not that should make any difference, as said is a little slow to swipe but no real problem with that.

Cheers

I have one of these units that was for my L322 https://www.navtool.com/land-rover-range-r...aspx...but have sold it, looks fairly basic plug an play, not ripping the dash apart to that extent for the instal.
