EGR valve

Has anyone replaced the EGR valve on the Range Rover sport TDV8 3.6 , as I’ve got a l/h one to replace and wondering how much of a job is it , the cars a 2009 model , I think I’d sooner replace the valve than delete them as I’ve got the DPF fitted .

Hi ssc100
I've just recently replaced LHS & RHS egr's & coolers on my 2008 tdv8 3.6, using Britparts. It is fairly complex & tricky but manageable, there's a good thread on Landyforum (must be some on here as well) and some Youtube stuff might help prepare you for the task. I would personally recommend you replace both egr's, use new gaskets throughout, take great care with the cooler to egr fixings (they are stainless steel-non magnetic (easily dropped into the abyss !), take plenty of photos before/during to remember all the connections, keep parts in order of removal/re assembly, decoke/clean out the manifolds (nasty crud it is), double check everything ! Take care & Good Luck.........TomL

Given where the valves are situated, it would be wise to do both Thumbs Up

How did you get on with this?
I have just had my engine warning light come on. Took it to my local indie who plugged in their reader and diagnosed left hand EGR valve sticking. They have reset the codes and told me to take if for a run, floor it and then let it slow down on the overrun a few times in case it was just a bit mucky as this might clear it. The warning light stayed off yesterday. haven't been out today yet... They also mentioned adding an additive to my fuel but I already use Redex regularly. Robin

Have you not considered blanking them physically and electronically? No more issues and cleaner intake.
Bodsy can do both and is mobile....it's what I would do Whistle Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Thanks Dr. It is part of my thinking. No huge rush as everything is back to normal for now. But I guess it will only be a matter of time..... Robin
