United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver

Just booked mine in for 8th November Thumbs Up
As suggested, delamination of the rear spoiler which they reckon will take about an hour and a half. Unless it's shot in which case they will have to order in a replacement and have it sprayed.

Good to hear people getting the benefit of the free recall.
I'm still hunting for my first RRS, but having a look at 2010 Autobiography edition next week.
Fingers crossed 4th time lucky.

Did wonder if this was just the HSE spoiler or if it included the A/B's, which would easily confuse a L/R dealers if the recalled one's were HSE's which had a A/B kit fitted later in life, and not factory produced A/B's. Laughing

Cheers

My HSE has had the Autobiography kit fitted since new so does that mean its not the same spoiler?

The Dress up Body Kit as L/R actually call it was available as a option on HSE's as opposed to "standard" on the A/B's, so if yours was factory produced, I guess the recall must apply to the A/B's as well although a different style spoiler, I don't know though if dealers used to fit the kit afterwards although the same L/R parts obviously, the same as the earlier pre face-lift HST model some of which were factory produced and some dealer fit.

Cheers
Col

Just checked my build spec and it says no body kit so i think im best taking it in for them to look at and soon find out if they will it. Theres a few more recalls one this model from new so i will ask them if they have been done also try and get some extra work out of them.

Well, I took mine into the local stealers as per the 10.00 pre-booked appointment made over a week ago. Car booked in, and was told it would be about 1 1/2 hrs and they would ring me when done.
At 12.00hrs i rang them and asked if it was ready only to be told that they didn't have the bonding agent (glue to you and me). Did I want them to put it back together and bring it back tomorrow when they would have the glue? I said OK as I'm not working tomorrow and they said it would be ok on 20 minutes.
On arrival I confirmed same time tomorrow and took the car home. When I got home I thought I would weed kill the drive (weeds still growing in November for goodness sake) and saw;

Obviously not properly refitted.
Looks like they dropped it in a puddle as well

Lets see what they say tomorrow.

Update;
I took the car back at 10.0hrs, pointed out the dirt and gap and was told that the technician had temporarily put it together waiting for the glue and that it was safe to use.
Four hours later the re-bonding had been done and the spoiler given a wipe down so all good, eventually.
At least it won't fly off now.

I think they have agreed this recall because its abit of glue bodge job, if it involved parts they would not have accepted recall, I wonder if Land rover is run by the Torys🤦‍♀️

Ultimately it's a safety issue: you're driving down the motorway at 70mph, passing a motorcycle and the spoiler delaminates, flies off and hits the motorcyclist in the face, he/she falls off and gets squashed by a 42 tonne truck
A bit of glue and an hour and a half labour is worth it to JLR surely.

Exactly that - the recall is cheaper than the potential liability. I hesitate to quote Fight Club, but:

Quote:
Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. ... If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

Although there's no recalls for poorly secured loads .. I saw a half sheet of plywood fly out of the back of a skip lorry on the M25 yesterday. Looked exciting for the following artic! 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

An load that is not secured properly is on the driver rather than the manufacturer. 2010 HSE TdV8 in Stornoway Grey.

It's not a "load", it's an integral component of the vehicle, if the manufacturer was aware of the potential danger, whilst the driver was not, who would you say was at fault?

Took mine in to-day (Harwoods, Pulborough), it's an HSE with a factory/dealer fitted bodykit, they offered to do it while I waited there and then, or arrange another day.

Said yes to having it done now, total time there 3 hours (the glue takes an hour to cure), saved me several hundred pounds and got a free health check.

My spoiler had started to go out of shape if left it in the sun for a time, the reversing camera falling out of its mounting, and I was looking out for a replacement when the recall came through. Happy days.
