Privacy windows

Hi

The RRS that I’m getting doesn’t have the privacy windows. But I really like the privacy look. The easy way to solve this, would be installing those interior films, but it doesn’t look quite the same, specially the rear window.

Is there any other solutions?

Thanks

Get the dealers to organise tints for you. It will involve the film you mentioned but when done by a professional it is difficult to tell the difference. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

The dealers will charge you a premium for non factory tints, try and find out who they use for tints and go directly to them. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Tints look good.......but if you get your windows filmed.....be careful that you don't scratch them. They are usually fairly tough, but once damaged they are difficult to repair.

Good luck getting them sorted. .

There is absolutely no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation.

TDV8 HSE MY10 with pretty much everything including a vase of daffs on the back shelf, tropical fish collection in the centre console, hamsters in the spare tyre and finally sheep on the passenger seats.....for weight distribution, what else??

I used the same local workshop that the Dealer uses - £500 from Dealer - £250 from the Worksop direct ie. £50 a window

The finish was perfect - even over the heater screen wires and radio aerial.

Later one glass got damaged when a large item fell over in the boot - they simply and quickly replaced it - again £50

Not much use to you as you appear to be overseas, but the workshop was Autotint in Reading, UK 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit

I was driven from Kwangyang to Yeosu Airport in South Korea on Tuesday in a Kia Sedonna people mover thing with even the front screen tinted and mirrored effect, every window on the thing was heavily tinted with mirrored film and there were quite a few cars on the roads there with similar mods! Must make night driving a nightmare when your badly adjusted headlights are reflected straight back at you from the on coming vehicle's windscreen! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I think the dealer here proposed a film, also scratch resistant and UV filter (which is very handy over here! Wink ). I’ll try to find which company they use.
They showed me some jobs, and indeed they appear to be perfectly installed. Still… I don’t fancy those visible heater wires in the rear windows. I guess it would be extremely expensive and eccentric to just replace the glass with a tinted one… Very Happy

Thank you all for your input

does the aftermarket film disguise the heat elements in the rear quarter windows?

I have seen various aftermarket tints on the RRS where the heating element is quite noticeable, whereas with the factory fit they are hard to see

Exactly... that's my problem with the films. The factory has a smooth shinny look, and the wires are not visible at all!
