I had the red airbag warning light come on (and stay on) last week.

My IID indicated "B0001-1B 2C. Drivers frontal stage 1 Permanent'

Thanks to the previous posts on this forum I gave it my best shot. Tried clearing the code but as expected it didn't clear. (I suppose the clue is in the word "Permanent."

Had a good look under the seats. All wiring and connectors seemed OK. Tried a reset by disconnecting battery; tried clearing code again: no joy.

Took it to my Indy and after having a good look he located the problem: clock spring in the steering wheel.

Replaced with genuine LR unit - part number on the box is LR018556. The one that was replaced certainly looked like the original!

Problem solved.

Posting this purely in anticipation that it might be useful for someone in the future.
