Spare wheel cover?

Has anyone else contemplated removing the spare wheel and fitting a tight cover of some sort such as a heavy duty PVC sack to prevent it becoming really filthy, so that when that moment arises and you have to swap a wheel out, you don't get filthy in the process?

I guess a pair of gloves in the bootspace will have to do, why LR don't throw a pair in, especially if you order the tow hitch, god only knows, Mean. Evil or Very Mad L319 D4 HSE

Not sure a spare wheel cover is really needed? Esp.for the superchareged as it doesnt come with a full spare alloy wheel. SO, as you have said, I think best just keep a pair of gloves in the boot undertray cubby hole.

Didn't you guys get a pair of LR branded leather riggers gloves in the moulded holder in the boot? I have a pair of very cheapo LR gloves in the back stowage with mine!

I didn't. Maybe the dealer puts these in. Or maybe the dealer helps themselves to them! Matt

Slightly off the subject, I was lucky enough to get a brand new 19” RRS sport wheel off eBay for £80.00. It didn’t include the tyre, but I just know that I will damage a rim at some time....which I have to have repaired immediately, yes, I am that sad. So having a real spare makes the whole drama less emotional.

Anybody thought about buying a set off eBay and then splitting them between interested parties?

My reply was a wee bit tongue in cheek guys as I cheated on that front!
Every new big RR comes with them included in the tool kit so I just asked the dealer to make sure there was a pair in mine when I partex'd the TD6, and there they were on delivery day! They are not part of the standard spec like they are with the RR. I've only just found the screwdriver that was included in the kit......................

If you must have LR branded gloves then you can get them from your dealer but you can save a bucket load of ££££s by going to the local garden centre or branch of ARCO (industrial protective clothing specialists). 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Finally ( just ) had a look in boot & NO gloves Crying or Very sad Also note that there is plenty of vaccant space/sections in the moulded foam tray underneath the boot floor ( where the jack etc is stored ) I presume this is for the detatchable tow bar and other bits? am I right in presuming this ?

I would take a picture to illustrate but my car is in the bodyshop for 3 days and I miss it already.

I have put a 1 litre bottle of oil in the centre/largest space, a cheapo torch in a small one on the right, a pair of gloves and some hand wipes in others. L319 D4 HSE

Just seemed like common sense really, if you have to change a wheel at night in winter you'll need a torch of some kind, gloves cos the spare will be filthy and probably wet, hand wipes for afterwards cos lord know what you'll get on you that you don't want to transfer to your clothes or the car's interior.

If I could fit it in I would also put in a lightweight waterproof jump suit or coverall to ensure clothes stay dry and clean, I bet Screwfix or someone similar do one, I shall investigate and let you know.

Just what I need though, some more weight to lug around! L319 D4 HSE

found one..

This is the type of thing I had in mind, I may order one next time I get stuff from Screwfix. I reckon it will pack down quite small.

This one costs £4.95

THis one is more 'Hi-Vis' but is a two piece and costs £3.35
