A lot of work went into this post explaining how to do this and it is very useful, but isn't there a simple dealer fix to achieve the same thing through reprogramming the electronics?

Reason I ask is that I can't believe they intended to rear of the cabin to be so poorly lit - it is a major design flaw.

...which is exactly why AlanM went to the trouble of finding a solution. There's no simple dealer fix.

England 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

If you are in or around Leeds my man Max can do a great fix on this - it's worth just letting him get on with it rather than messing with it yourself.

I just got him to put a roof mounted 9.5" dvd player in and he did the lights at the same time.

He's on max@motolectro.co.uk,

I'm liking the sound of Mrs ST!!!

No, to be fair - I wouldn't mod yours either - leave that sort of thing to the professionals!!! Hence why fiddling about with cables in the roof lining isn't for me!!!! Jaguar XKR Convertible

Well thought out this was very annoying especially when rear seat passengers try to find seat belts etc.

The mod went well I did however alter the wiring in that I found it easier to pick up the power from the rear load compartment light and just fed a wire across the rear head lining no need to remove door pillar covers and easy connections made in the space behind the fuel filler inspection cover in the rear compartment. I chose to include an in line fuse and a diode in each supply leg as suggested by another contributor.

I only hit one snag, one of the lights when lifted out left the socket behind the wire had been suck down with the head lining adhesive! a bit of a pain but not terminal just added ten minutes to what turned out to be a half hour job
