Sunroof behaviour

Just wondering if anyone else have the same problem:

when I close the sunroff, it close and once it reach the "close postion" it reopen again and then try to close again before reopen.....Does that maybe 50% of the time. The only solution I found is to quickly press the tilt position once it is close and then reclose it... Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

I've had that problem on a BMW too - it was a faulty anti-foul sensor on that, replaced it and all ok. I didn't have a sunroof on my RRS either so not sure if it has them.... ? Confused

I opened and closed the sunroof for the first time last night, just to see if it worked.

I think one of my cars used to do this - there may be a safety device which opens the roof if on closing it encounters resistance, like the windows do. Perhaps the track needs lubrication or cleaning?

Don't lubricate it, it will gather dust.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

Jimmy next time you are in your motor, open your sunroof and keep your finger on the button for two or three seconds after the glass is fully open. Then do the same to close, keep your finger on the button once the glass is fully closed.

By doing this you will reset the sunroof. Like the one touch windows it can "loose it's memory" if the power supply is disconnected whilst open.

The reason the glass 'bounces back' on closure is normally down to this failure mode. If it continues after you have tried resetting then it could be a faulty anti trap sensor as shmoogle mentioned. But resetting normally does the trick. Thumbs Up Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

That's an excellent idea, Jay. Why don't you start a new thread about tips, mate.
