Facia vents - arm keeps bending

Does anybody else have a facia vent problem. The finger toggle works fine but the directional vents are pretty fragile. The connecting arm seems to disconnect at the slightest movement as the arm flexes and detaches it self so leaving the vent actually closed or the vertical planes facing in different directions.

How easy is it to remove the vents to get access to the mechanism.

Hi Steve,

This won't help you much but I had a similar problem on my 2005 SC. So I thought "how hard can it be to take it apart and realign everything?"

My advice would be don't do it unless you have very nimble fingers, 5 hands and the patience of a Saint!!

It's one of the most fiddly jobs I've undertaken and just when you think you're almost there the whole thing falls apart again.

In principle, it's very easy to remove the air vent itself, just prize it gently out with a trim removal tool to make it easier ( Rolling with laughter ) to work on.

The problem is the mechanism inside seems to be over complicated and nothing seems to give much in the way of positive feeling when pushed back together.

Anyway, if you find an easy solution, please share as I gave up! 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Hah, I noticed I had the same problem the other day .. I wiggled it a bit and it popped back in.

I shall now proceed to never touch that vent again, just in case! Wink 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S
