Great post Rob. I am a prospective chipping convert, when my TDV8 sport arrives, so just what i need to hear. Smile

once the car has been chipped does the v8 exhaust note improve also? Something else is always something better:

So, all very different then? But the common theme is the engine's ALWAYS better with a remap! Thumbs Up

Probably been asked a million times before....so if it has...pls ignore me.

Why oh why don't LR tune their engines properly? Is it really all about poor fuel quality and maybe the owners don't service properly.

The TDv6 is so slow in standard spec, a 2 second improvement would sure ensure new buyers. When compared to BMW's 3D, the LR unit is sloooowwww.

A chipped TDV8 sounds great, Will it catch a supercharger car?
WHat about chipping the SC? Possible?

Paul,

Manufacturers have many factors in mind when they produce an engine including, fuel economy, emission standards, engine longevity, fuel quality, servicing standards and marketing strategy.

The 'release' of an engine is a compromise of all the above factors and almost always there will be more power and torque available but there is a trade off when upgrading an engine; usually in emission standards and sometimes fuel economy depending on the amount of additional power produced.

As for the Supercharged engine, yes it can be tuned.

ECU reprogramming via OBD

+48bhp @ 4900 rpm

NO mechanical mods

If you combine with 'blower' mods and exhaust 80 bhp

Cool. How much faster to 60? Fuel consumption?

No dealers in Italy yet...sorry...but you can send ecu to me and I can reprogramme and send back.

0-60 is not drastically improved as majority of the gains are above 4000 rpm but throttle response is a lot sharper and acceleration above 110mph is phenomenal Smile

Fuel economy should improve by around 8-10% with 'sensible' driving (If there's such a thing in a Supercharged!)
