Secure Tracker Pro

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know if the Secure Tracker Pro they've quietly started giving as an option on new RRS/RR is Cat5 or Cat6?

I know the standard one is Cat6 but two big insurers have now said they want Cat5 as a minimum on a newer RR/RRS.

Thanks

LR secure pro is their own type of tracker,,i called Tracker the other week when I bought my15 & asked them to transfer the subscription over as I still had a few months left & they said that its not the same type they use & I would have to have a new tracker fitted,,which I haven't as my insurance haven't asked for one & if it gets stolen I don't want it back. The cat5 tracker is the one with the tags so if they get the keys & drive off it alerts tracker who then call you just to make sure you haven't driven off without a tag. Andy.

I noticed this when going back through the configurator after placing my order a few weeks ago and I’d be interested in knowing the answer for sure.

By chance I’m going into review my spec at the dealer tomorrow so will be after a clear answer then.

50/50 whether I’m going to lose the bottle on the order all together- my sensible head is back on again! 😂

Cat 5 has to have a "token" that is separate to the key. Which means I don't want it - I'd rather not have a key at all, never mind have to carry two keys - and putting them both together on the same keyring completely negates the point.

Bring on fingerprint / iris / other technology.

(So I think it's Cat 6). RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

The idea is to keep the tag separate from the key when you are at home,,so if they get the key & drive off it alerts Tracker who then contact you to let you know the vehicle is on the move.A lot of insurance companies insist on cat5 now. Andy.

A lot of insurance companies insist on a black box. I chose companies that don't insist on either. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

I wanted to know what category the tracker was on my RRS MY16 recently and got this response back from LR. My insurance liked it and gave me a discount, but i think it varies a lot between insurance companies and where you live, if its garaged etc.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

Note that Thatcham categories have recently changed, with 5 becoming S5 and 6 and 7 becoming S7.

Remote immobilisation is no longer mandatory for S5.

Am I right in thinking from MY19 LR quietly changed something in the way the keys operate to stop relay attacks?

Or did I misread that somewhere?

I know the key design changed for MY18 as I had one!

Also found the answer from the spec and price brochure on the Pro difference;

(9) Stolen Vehicle Tracking – Secure Tracker Thatcham is Category 6, Secure Tracker Pro is Thatcham
Category 5. Subscription product, active for warranty period, renewel required thereafter.

So the "fob" must be located inside the keys.

Pro adds an alert to the Stolen Vehicles Tracking Centre if the car is stolen with non-authorised or clones keys. I presume this takes the system from 7 to S5.

Secure pro

So apparently the tracker secure is cat6
And the secure PRO is cat5 as it prevents cloning of key fob in sense that if cloned and car driven off it will alert as original keys not with driver of vehicle
