Tachometer - Range Rover Sport Excess

Can someone explain to me why the diesel engines tachometer goes all the way to 6000rpm when the redline is 4500rpm. Engine speed is electronically limited so there is no need to go to 6000rpm.
5000rpm is enough and makes better use of the dail sweep.
