New shape or old

Hi. Just looking to get a rrs for the first time. Coming from a BMW X5.
With what I’m looking to spend I can get a 2018 hse dynamic (new shape)or a 2017 autobiography.

Any thoughts on the better shape and if it’s worth getting the older shape for the sake of the autobiography?

Is the autobiography just upgraded trim or is there a difference on the outside?

The 2018 dynamic I’m looking at already has upgraded 22” wheels and is colour coded etc.

Thanks.

Which do you prefer? Buy that one. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I've had a 2017 and 2018 HSE Dynamic and for me there is no comparison - it has to be a 2018. The 2017 looks so dated in comparison.

Whichever you think is best. I prefer my 2012 frankly, to me its the last one sharing visible design cues all around dating back to the original RR. The "new" shape series RRS2 took a while to grow on me but is ok, I just prefer mine.

Horses for courses, whatever floats your boat. You have to live with it. Depends if you can live with HSE or Autobiography spec ?

Depends on how much you “need” an autobiography. It gets heated and cooled seats (they’re all heated anyway), different seats and colour coded trim on the outside (plus other bits).

Personally I only like the AB seats if they’re single colour but sadly most get specced with two colour leather, some of which look a bit 80’s IMHO. Outside, colour coding only looks good on certain colours. May as well not bother on black and doesn’t look great on colours like mine (red). Definitely improves a white car though but also down to personal taste.

The biggest hit will be value. Your 2018 will depreciate slower due to being a face lifted model, inside and out. The newer dash looks amazing and makes mine (2016) seem really dated.

Defo 2018 would be my conclusion. Are you any nearer buying one? Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

Just visiting from the Full Fat side but, for me, the extra leather in the AB (doors, dash, centre console and even the roof lining), along with the foldable “pillows” on the head restraints were all the mattered. So I’d go older AB every time, as fashion and gadgets (beyond the minimum that I actually need) are both completely irrelevant to me.

But that’s just me, you may feel differently Thumbs Up

Be nice if the OP actually engaged in the discussion after asking the question. Another "ask and run" thread, it seems. Whistle 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I’ve wondered if people who do this really irritating thing (making their first post a question, get thoughtful answers and then Censored off!) had a label; I’m pleased to learn that they have Thumbs Up A Fatty owner, just dropping by Smile
