SMOKING V8 DIESEL

Can anyone shed any light on why my 2007 V8 Diesel should belch out clouds of white smoke from under the bonnet after starting? It's not from the exhaust and it doesn't smell of anything obvious. It happens mostly after the car has stood for a couple of days or more and I drive it a few hundred metres from cold and then stop. I'm guessing that one of the fluids is dripping onto the exhaust and I'm seeing it being burnt off. Anybody encountered this one?

It's not by the left wheel arch by chance,, and has it been a bit chilly, like below 5 deg?. If this as the case I would suspect it's the fuel burning heater cutting in, it exhausts towards the left wheel arch area. 2010 RRS, TDV8

A common problem that isn’t a problem at all! This means your fuel burning heater is working properly. Thumbs Up

It’s designed to prewar the engine in cold conditions and so reduce stress on the engine just after starting. It also reduces harmful exhaust gasses as the engine warms up. I have a remote fitted to mine and use it frequently even in summer! Robin
