Pad's or shoe's pads are fine as i have done mine but to do the shoe's you need to make sure the hand brake is fully off so easier with a diagnostic tool i did my with out on my Disco3 Thumbs Up

the procedure to fully release the handbrake shoes is listed in the operator manual.
but it is more reliable if you have simple diagnostic tool to do it.
some simple LR specific service light reset tools have this function also possible.

for changing rear brake pads only... you wont need to do that procedure.

only if you need to take off the rear discs. 2007 TDV6 RRS HSE..now gone

Do a search for Bodsy's brake bible. Full info on how to do it all. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
