Surely the low oil pressure light would start to come on as the oil level got down to the level of the pickup. 07MY RRS TDV6 Arctic Frost Aspen Interior |

The low pressure oil light should be renamed the “fit a new engine light”. There is no oil level low light in the RRS1, which when there is no dipstick, except the one behind the wheel, is IMHO a major design fault. |

So having the bonnet open allows you to bypass the wait system ? |

Doesn’t work on mine, the oil has to be warm and I have to wait 10 mins after engine off or it tells me oil level not available. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

So that’s potentially running on low oil for 10 mins until the system tells your low on oil .

Strange, mine checks o.k. whether checked after stopping for 10 mins. or left overnight and checked in morning when cold, don't have to press any cruise control buttons, open bonnet or anything like that. Of course I am assuming it works o.k. but never put any oil in between services and it hasn't gone bang yet. Could just lift throttle pedal slightly as if pressed at all when checking it will say not available or whatever it says.
