England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Well that was fun.......

So my EGRs decided to start playing up last week. Ordered a suitable blanking kit, it arrived today so I decided in my infinite wisdom that the job must be done straight away, being the patient type and all Laughing Laughing Laughing

We'll talk about making a tricky task much harder by removing all natural light, your workshop light failing almost straight away, so resorting to using a small desk anglepoise light for lighting Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Still 3hrs later (including dinner and a 20mins test drive) all sorted and OMG its like a whole new motor, MPG up from 26.4 to 29.8, no clouds of black smoke, nice smooth acceleration. Should have done as soon as I bought it, still you live and learn Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing Laughing

I even managed to leave the pipes in place so should be MOT friendly too Whistle Whistle 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)

Safe and slow is the key. Did it bring out the undiagnosed tourrettes in you.

Hi Mani,

This is the one I fitted, it blanks both ends off and I also removed the butterfly too.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=ht...1818633650

I have leftt he EGR pipes in place so should the MOT tester looks the pipes are still there so hopefully no issues with that.

Just make sure you have plenty of extensions and UJs for your socket set to get to the drivers side bolts, it's a little tight Laughing Laughing

Should add, mine is the 2.7v6 so might be different to your TDv8

Hope this helps 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)

I think you'll need to get the EGR mapped out on your TDV8. It's not as straight forward as the earlier 2.7TDV6, sadly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It's not that much of a pig to be fair - it would've been easier if I hadn't done it in the evening with a rubbish desk lamp.

I followed the instructions on EGR blanking from this post:

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic28424.html

The instructions are nice a clear, the only thing I did differently was to stuff some rags down next to the EGR valve to stop anything falling down when you take it all apart - especially the drivers side as that one is very tight (even worse when you have fat fingers like me!)

I sprayed the bolts onthe EGRs with Plusgas for a few days before and they came off nice and easy - however as said before you need a few extension and joints for the sockets to reach the bolts easily.

Total time workign was about 2hrs from openingthe gargae to get the tools to packing up tools, so not too bad really. The main thing is take your time and don't get frustrated with it otherwise I coudl imagine things going wrong very quickly and easily.

just realised I forgot to reply........sorry about that.

yep running much smoother, does seem a little quieter than before, but could be imagining it to be fair.

I have just filled the beast up and reset the MPG and after a reasonable trip around the local town and some A and B roads I'm now returning 29.4mpg which is up by about 3mpg from before fitting the blanking plates.
