United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Anyone who hasn't played with their RRS and hears the term "Cross axled", here's what it looks like on the 4x4 info screen.

This was clambering over some obstacle or other in the Brechfa forest. All four wheels at maximum droop/compression (red axles and bars over /under the wheels) and the centre diff fully locked. Also notice that this is not in a special programme on the Terrain Response system, just low range, off road height. I stopped, on a climb, to take this photo. Pulled away again without a complaint, might have been a chirp from the TC but nothing more if that. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Compared to getting into a book you don't have and the occasional "oof!" from Hugh!

That's why I have the mic turned off on my dash cam. Me swearing and saying "oofff!" is not the best sound track! Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I think getting the extra 35mm height makes the ride a bit stiffer. Last trip I was listening to Dr Who and my wife and my mother both thought I had a floosie with me. I also had to bleep over my 18 yr old son's swearing.

My wife looked at the website of the hotel, saw the four-poster beds and general luxuriousness and assumed I was taking another woman there.

Was there even one scratch on your sump guard?

Goodyear Duratracs going on today. There are eleven tyre outlets within two miles of me - phoned around to see what AT's etc were available. The third one I rang had these in stock and even though they are generally biased for off-road, not on-road, had them in stock and priced to get them out of stock and taking-up shelf space!

Several scratches on the bottom of my car, mainly from forgetting to re-adjust the height when moving from Low range back to High - for some reason it changes the height back to normal and I'd set off on the next set of ruts thinking they were higher than previous set Rolling Eyes I was happier to go slowly through things so less likely to have heavy impacts on the bottom of the car.

Few rock dings on my alloys, not that igaf about them and a couple of fingernail sized nicks in the sidewall of 2 tyres. Also got two deep scratches on my passenger door from when the gate in the video above blew back on me - oh well.

First day I stayed in High range, no programs except for Bomb Hole and one other rock scramble. Second day I changed about a bit more and in Brechfa mainly had it in Low the whole time, changing between standard, mud and rock depending on what I was facing and even then I was probably being cautious.

Great that you're getting new tyres, expect to see you in the countryside sometime soon Smile

If mine was less a daily drive and more a playing vehicle, I'd probably have Duratracs. Or PD1881 with BFGs perhaps.

I've ordered a set of Pirelli AT+ (the one we saw on the Velars at Les Comes, Chris). Be interesting to see how they compare to the Grabber AT3 as a winter rated AT. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Interested to see how you get on with those Wayne, they did look awesome on the Velar Cool im going BFG I think for the Comps but noticed they do the AT plus in that size too Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

For off road use, I'd go with the BFGs I think. I'm only using AT+ because I do so many road miles and want a "jack of all trades" tyre.

I reckon 1881 with BFG on will look Cool as well as being great off road. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
