I quite like the look of these

https://www.sidesteps.co.uk/shop/range-rov...ide-steps/

Mines a 2012/2013 and the dirt looks really ground in ! they could just need a *proper* scrub, but the black ones would look nice Very Happy

£180 just for the edging seems a lot..
How can you tell if the ones on the car
are supplied by JLR, or will they fit after market
ones as well? ===========================================

Check Topix maybe ? should be listed as a build option on the car .

at the bottom is states

Please note that if you require a replacement strip for a QuickTread product (as opposed to Land Rover OEM) these are listed separately and are available for Range Rover Sport, Discovery 3, Discovery 4 and Freelander 2.

Probably not listed on topix if a dealer fitted option.

With any of the options, how can you be sure that they wont just deteriorate like the OPs have? Are OEM LR ones resistant to discolouration? Robin

Had mine sprayed satin black today by a mate who owns a body shop, really happy with how they came out

Looks Good Thumbs Up

I think that this is the best option to resolve the aluminium 'staining' problem long term.

Couple of questions:

1. Did he remove the aluminium trims or spray them while still on the side steps? I am not sure if the trims can be removed and re-fixed?

2. Did he use an etch primer on the aluminium trim before painting?

Thanks.

Looks very smart,

He didn't remove them, just masked them off to spray. Not sure what he used on them tbh

England 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Started replacing my side steps today. Used a disc cutter and just cut through the brackets to get them off it was only the alloy trim and plastic holding the passenger side together.

Cleaned up the sills and washed all the mud out of the arches, sills were in really good nick this being the worst area.

Cleaned up and treated with Kurust. Took the opportunity to clean up the air tank as well

I’ll treat all areas with Lanoguard and fit the new ones tomorrow. Steve
