Just checking as a precaution mate apparently there's a level plug on side of transmission. Looking at doing oil and sump pan assy change during summer. So having a look will give me a heads up to access available.

so you will need a lot of oil then, rather than top up.

Your better off getting it flushed at that age or draining via the sump plug.

Removing the sump is a pain, and can be difficult to reseal

A flush is alway more beneficial than a sunp/refill

It's not a dirty filter that causes gearbox issues and wear, it's dirty oil. A flush removes over 98% of the old oil, as opposed to 40% by draining the sump Thumbs Up

Disco_Mike....

Could you explain flushing process. Does it filter and recondition oil or just filter any sludge and contaminates.cheers

Old oil comes out and disposed off
New oil goes in.

Cool sounds good. So clutch packs control block torque converter and charge pump would be flushed.
Do you happen to carry this procedure out for others.cheers

A number of places do this.
Just make sure they use oil suitable for the 8 speed.
And not oil that is red as that should ring alarm bells.

Mike is in Scotland.

Goto YouTube and search gearbox flush to give you an idea
